Do you work for Interstate Distributor?

Does IDC always have such a speedy hiring process? Sent online application last night; recruiter called this AM saying I could go to Orientation next Monday; surprised me a bit, but will probably do it. Comments?

 

They have been rather quick on the draw. They'd rather get you in the door and have orientation "weed" you out if there is a problem. (My 1st time we lost one for drinking, he showed up to road test smelling of beer).

As close as you are to Dallas, I'd say go for it!

I don't believe they weed people out in orientation much. I was up at the Tacoma HQ on Monday for the driver appreciation bbq and was chatting with one of the recruiters. He said basically this day and age all the reports come back in a matter of minutes online, so they get a look at all your safety info and references from the companies. I remember my old man telling me back in the day, it took a month or so to get hired on as everything was done by the phone, and took a long time.

 

This is one of the companies that I'm considering driving for. I like everything I've heard about them so far, except for the lack of APUs in the truck. This is a big concern for me. I'm pretty picky when it comes to temperature in the truck when I'm sleeping. Will the trucks idle at any time, or are there temperature restrictions? The recruiter I'm speaking to told me that I might miss out on the extra .01 per mile monthly bonus if I idle every night, but didn't mention whether or not the truck would idle at any time. I can easily dismiss that .01 per mile if I can idle when I need to.

Can any of the current drivers tell me about their idle policy? Many thanks in advance.

 

They will idle when over 71 degrees out and when under 28 degrees out, but they have bunk heaters for when its cold.

 

Also, my temp sensor was originally on the outside of my truck and it would be 70 out but 85 in my truck, so I couldnt idle. I had the shop move the sensor inside the cab. No more issues.
