being tied down and chances of becoming ill and stuff is why I have not done it yet
I have driven most trucks besides a KW, eventually I might try to drive one to see how I like it
as for the volvo vs FL....im FL all the way, I like my cascadia which runs smooth, has not broken down a single time, only thing I have had to get fixed was a hose and a relay and crap like that. Average mpg im getting is about 7.3 or so and thats running over the grapevine and driving in LA a lot.
The only volvo I cared to drive was the 780 since it was a lot roomier inside, international was nice for the cargo space too.
freightliner vs volvo

Volvo
I've driven several of both. Generally the 2014- 2015 Volvo D13 has more power under load on hills, imo. Even governed at 63. Can't remember specifically what was in the FShaker
As mentioned above, yes the Cummins is very nice. Slightly better than D13 for power and more reliable
Watch your R's in FL under load. They tend to overheat unless you keep em up. I haven't driven a Volvo which has overheated yet.
Interior quality better than FL -
I know one guy had his 2013 volvo and he had water getting into his sleeper. Whether it is a bad seal in the sleeper.

Volvo over Freightshaker any day

There's a lot of climbing on the run, so 7.4 isn't that bad. Not that good, either, you can get more out of it when it settles in. That D13 is a good motor, the iShift is a good tranny (I don't like running auto trannys, they aren't as smooth backing or coupling as a manual - The Surge) But the Volvo steers easier, holds the road better, and has so much floor space and excellent ventilation and cabinetry. I'd go Volvo, but I'd like to have your problem for myself.

What are the specs on the two trucks? Do you know what the transmission is, what the rear end ratios are, etc?

Freightliner sells gliders and volvo doesn't.

My company runs a mixed fleet including volvos. I gotta agree they do ride nice.
