How about MilitarySealiftCommand? I started to go with them. Acquired the qualifications, "Ordinary Seaman" and planned to go with a supply ship ported in Singapore. Wife is Chinese and refuses to live in Singapore. Changed my mind then; wouldn't be able to see her or the children often enough if they lived in USA or Beijing. Former USS New Jersey (BB-62) sailor.

Go with Millis. Raider used to be a good company. Now one of the worst. Right down there with FFE. If you are dead set on dragging a reefer you should go with Stevens. Never get home and won't make much but you will know reefer. Lots of waiting to load/unload. Threats of taking your pay for their refrigeration problems, etc. Millis hauls dry freight. Beer, glass, lots of other stuff. Well regarded. Good PACCAR equipment. Don't compare apples to turds. If you want to be home with family go to Micky Ds. Make more then FFE/Stevens if you work full time. You might consider College training. Weatherford College has training. In Mineral Well/Decatur. Don't like to drive probably need to move on. I drive 200-400 a night and 42 miles each way to get there. Can get tanker job closer but I work for good people and make great money. EVerything in life is a tradeoff. You have to decide what you are willing too part with to get what you desire.Chinatown Thanks this.

stevens has a pretty good program. and I have talked to plent of drivers over the years that seemed to like stevens for the most part. where every you start at. plan to be there for years.... don't become a job hopper like everyone else does. ffe is the last place I would want to work. I put them at the bottom of the list just above swift.

RUN...RUN both are bad! RUN now from them unless you like no money and a new truck.

FFE/KLLM for sure but be ready when they tell you to do something and do work asked of you or be ready to go home. They train well and care but do not play games. They also feed you supper and cereal for mornings is available, you only worry about lunch and they take you to Wal Mart twice a week for ones who need a ride. I do not know of any other company that does what FFE does and I am very thankful for them being there when I needed training however I was too chicken to go to California my third day out with trainer and did not want otr in first place but Tankers division, I wish I would have just stuck it out.

Just fired off my app to Millis!
So glad for these forums. That was a company I had completely over looked, and seems to be a great opportunity!
Lets seem how this pans out...Chinatown Thanks this. -
Its been over a week, and no word from Millis.
I took a ride down and met Harold. Next class starts 10/6. He said they only had two and wanted six.
I wouldn't think it would take too long to at least get some questions?? -
It they're ignoring you during the courting process, watch out if you join up!

Got a couple of spam text from Millis this morning.
Decided to call and follow up... 'Our director has selected other applicants'
So back to plan A.
Is it possible that a 'too clean' background can limit choices??
I see folks over-coming some pretty serious background issues. And a Veteran with clean background and driving record, gets the 'OK...NEXT' -
Each company hires for the same reason: bring in new drivers.
but depending on variables, they may hire differently for the same areas at different times.
An example: the company has too many drivers currently in a geographical area and hiring another may cause problems for home time.
Or they may have a lot of freight in another area and need to concentrate hiring drivers from that local. Or they don't have trainers available in your area.
There is no such thing as 'too clean' with your background.
