Ooops, going thru my mail, 1st time and winnowing out the junk. Seems that I got a red light ticket, camera, and since my pickup is registered in OK, ticket was sent here. Am already way late on paying it. Need to call these people 1st thing on Monday and find out how to make it right.

 

Best advice is dog ate it or better yet tell them the check was sent.

 

Snowwy how did you work on your computer? I have a Compaq and it has windows 8 and when it was installing the new updates it did not do something right. Now it says configuration failed reverting files. What should I do? I have an idea to use it as target practice.

 

i used to sell computers many many many many moons ago. once in a blue moon i get someone who's computer was working right, right out of the box. i always did the wipe and reinstall and all there problems were solved.

do a google for accessing the SOFTWARE RECOVERY for you laptop model number. all your software is imbedded in the hard drive. you'll find instructions on how to access it and do a hard drive wipe. it'll do everything on it's own. all you got do is get there and get it started.

it's a simple process. sometimes it's the f8 or f9 or f11 key you tap on as soon as you hit the power button. it boots into recovery mode, you tell it what you want and it does the rest.

you can try download some registry repair programs and antivirus. so if anything fixes anything. some people swear by registry programs.

my personally, have tried it all and had no luck.

 

Thanks I finally got aggravated and went to mow the yard and after I came back it had updated itself. The info you gave me will be useful in the future. I need to work on wife's ASUS she has windows 7 and it seems much more reliable than 8.

 

not a lot of people are likeing 8.

but those not tech savy, it's not easy installing 7. you can try it, but you better have a spare computer to hang out with google on. again, not a big deal, once you make it happen.

and if you're going to go that route. look for system builder cd. they are the same full installation for half price. you don't get a box or msft support. $100 instead of $200.

my asus i just bought. is completely wiped of any manufacture software. there's no going back untill i order the software from asus. i just ordered from hp. and they wanted to know why. well, there's a virus in the recovery partition. to which i really do have. but that laptop is 2 years old. out of warranty. my asus, has 11 months go to. LOL.

 

if your system came with the program. make sure to buy some blank dvd's and create the software so you'll have it if it's ever needed. my asus either didn't come with that option or i need to google to find it.
