a lot is also dependent on where you are and the freight lanes in those areas. Ohio and the surrounding states have great freight and from talking to a lot of drivers that have been with tmc for more than a couple of years, they get home quite often. It would suck getting stuck out due to no freight

Yea that would suck, I'm thinking of going with TMC later this year; just wanted to get some insight on them. Do they micromanage you or let you do the routing & stuff like that. And are they strict on idling?

They have an idle policy of use common sense. You can idle if you want to, just dont over do it. You get points towards your snapshot for having high mpg, since being idle counts towards your mpg, having to much idle time would hurt your snapshot chances. However you are gauged against the rest of the fleet on idle times. As of now the current fleet idle time is 25-30%. Myself Im at 5-6%. I only idle if I am uncomfortable. Ill sit with the windows open and a fan in the window. Wait till I start to sweat, then close everything up, start the truck for about an hour, and cool it off again. As far as micromanage, Ive not had anyone tell me how to run my routes. They have onboard GPS on the qcom, and the routing it uses is pretty good, but they also want you to minimize your out of route. Having low out of route, gives you bonus points towards your snapshot as well. from what Ive seen 10% is the average. Most times its unavoidable to get some out of route since they go from zip code to zip code. If your delivery point is 20 miles on the far side of the zip code, then you will incur some out of route.

Well I made my drop this morning at the industrial park in Pryor creek ok. My next load was a load of paper told from national gypsum 3/4 of a mile away to shopping port pa....900+ miles. It's schedule for delivery tomorrow at 2pm, however I don't think I'll make it in time. I drove my clock out and made it to Effingham Illinois, but still have 498 miles. I'll have to drive it out and possibly be late. It'd my next load comes out of there, I very well might be out of hours waiting to get loaded.

just curious,were you at or near consignee last night?You only drove 400ish miles today,were you held up at shipper?Maybe that load was being held for you and not knowing so, you burned up hrs making delivery.

I was in Joplin on Saturday, my delivery want due in to the consignee till Monday morning. I wasn't spending the entire weekend someplace without access to decent food, toiletries, or people. I took my 34 hr at big cabin truck stop. I drove a total of 512 miles today, it took 35 minutes to get to the consignee, an hour to unload, then 2 hours to get reloaded. I stopped in Joplin this afternoon to get the inverter for my truck. Stopped once for fuel, and twice for a load check and a piss break.

I just realized something. This load that I'm under isn't due till tomorrow, the 24th....not the 23rd....today.Lol
