New fella seeking to become a decent truck driver

Hi Fellas,

I am planning to change fields and put some serious thought about becoming a truck driver after reading reports on employment in this field.
I surely don't know much, but I am eager to learn. I think forums are a great place to get started and read about the Industry and learn with more Senior folks.
These, in a nutshell, were my reasons to join this forum and make some friends along the way.

I would sincerely appreciate if any of you could guide me in understanding this industry. What would be required and else. There is a lot of bad info on the net. For someone who does not know a lot, it is hard to believe in everything. Is there any guide for wannabe truck drivers ?

I am currently located in Canada Ottawa- Ontario.
