Helpful information Mad Frenchman. Answers a lot of questions. I went out today and looked all over Howard and Glasscock counties. Saw no drilling rigs anywhere for miles. I see what you mean. I also went to several SWDs and water pits. No trucks anywhere. Low starting pay not a big deal since I have no oil field experience. Good to know about the over time. Will look in the other cities and counties you mention. I'm going to the bigger companies here, then will go have a look. So far all the applications I have filled out have been on paper, but most likely the larger companies will be online applications. Thanks again for a helpful response.

Arky what you say is right. However, I am well aware of what "attitude" is and it is not what I present. What I have found out since my first post is the problem is closer to what you say regarding parties who can't make hiring decisions. What is going on is they need drivers for other areas, or so I was told recently by another driver having similar problems getting answers. Perhaps its more that the work is slowing up and they just are not sure for this area, but they need drivers for other areas. It appears that except for production water hauling, its over in the Big Spring area for now. I'm not sure but that is the way it is looking. The real answer is more that I need to move if I want a driving job and I said I wanted to stay in Big Spring. I think Mad Frenchmen hit the nail on the head. I am learning I will need to move with the drilling action unless all I do is production water, which would be fine with me. I do appreciate your good information mixed in with the snarky stuff. Hope it make you feel better to spew a little.

Thanks, will look them up for sure.

I expressed frustration in my post. However, I know enough not to display frustration or "attitude". I agree that such expressed frustration would not be a wise thing to do when asking. That is why I expressed it here. The disadvantage of text in these posts is that they lack voice tone and body language so true "attitude" does not show. Perhaps what I need to polish up on is my text expression! Thanks for your help Patrickm, trust me, I do appreciate it, I do mean it!

That I did not know, but it sure makes sense. It helps to know that. Then I need to apply at the larger companies, which I have not done yet. Thanks drivinman, appreciate your help on that.

My post was snarky... and I apologize for that. I will say this though. Just fill out the app. I have personally (not recently, not in the oilfield) walked in and handed a resume to a secretary who wasn't sure if they were hiring or not, she handed me an app just in case. Before I had the app filled out, somebody was shaking my hand and wanted to speak to me when finished with the app. I walked out of the building with a job that I had not even considered that I had a chance of getting. I was just dropping off the resume for a long shot.
So... in short.. fill out the app. If you have all your info with you (which you should have) it doesn't take that long. You never know what can happen... regardless of requirements or experience.
I have thought about this thread quite a bit actually... partly because I realized I was a bit snarky. Put yourself in their shoes. How many times do you think somebody has asked what their experience requirements were, then came back in with a jacked up resume with just enough to pass those requirements? Or... how about this... the person you were talking to has been told a certain set of requirements and has turned people away based on such... only to watch them hire somebody with than what was stated? There is very likely a reason why you get the responses you were getting. The reasons could vary, but they have their reasons and they need you (the person wanting a job) to job just fill out the app.
Oh...btw... posting under two different names is confusing.d o g Thanks this. -
Hey cooley, if you use the icon on the bottom right of each post, the one that says "Reply With Quote", your responses will make yourself clearer to all of us reading this. Thank you. Just trying to be helpful.

Would you be interested in working in South Texas? I work for Stevens tanker. I too only had one year tractor trailer experience (notice I didn't say otr), clean record etc and they took me in a heartbeat with zero oilfield experience.
Pay is low, I'm at $18 per hour but I get 65-70 hours per week. Is it perfect? No. But it was my foot in the door. Get a year of vac truck experience and then see what my options are. Might be the ticket your looking for. They have a yard in Jacksboro as well, not sure if that's closer or further for you than Stockdale, Gonzales, or Dilley.

Can you tell us your experience working in oilfields? In general how was it?
