Yeah, no overtime pay even after 40hrs. No benefits like health insurance an $10-12 an hour. Think ill pass.

 

They are a ###### company. Avoid them at all cost. Low pay, ineffective managers, and unsafe equipment. The only thing they care about is money. Area managers get bonuses based on cost performance and if you have trucks that need repairs that are costly they will drag their feet. Bald tires, exhaust leaks and regeneration exhaust leaks. You cant call anyone above them to complain cause they hide themselves from everyone. Dont waste your time!!!

 

and heaven forbid that you might be accused of hitting a trailer or post and given days off without pay and then fired after you are told the following work day you hit a pole . No damage or markings on trailer and your team leader watched you park and says you did not hit the pole. Night security said different and when you get to work the trailer is moved and you are fired as a 3rd "incident". Employee turn over is huge, but will let some "employee's" get-a-way with "incidents".

 

Be careful with what you get into with this company. Being a truck driver and a yard dog are two totally different worlds!

Currently I make $15/hr + OT after 40 and every bit of that is earned! It's bad enough you get 10 + moves over the radio while trying to complete the first 3 moves inbound/outbound gave you. Then on top of the next 10 moves you might get 4 more to boot! Also forget about ignoring the radio, the warehouse will just send a team out to flag you down and hand you yet a new list of 5 + moves. Before you know it, you will fall behind and to make it worse. . . the warehouse may have you deliver messages to drivers that their load is ready. Oh, yeah and if you need to fill a spot with an empty trailer you will have to find it all the while getting more moves over the radio.

It's very annoying work and allot of pressure to move trailers. The warehouse makes those truckers sit for 5, 10, 15 hours + but don't even think about making the warehouse wait to have a trailer moved. Then we also run out of space for the trailers, oh, well. . . then we start parking them in the parking lot meant for CARS! It's a blast trying to negotiate around those aisles and planters.

Lazer Spot itself is not bad it's the clients! My site needs two driver for both shifts or you'll get nothing done.

 

Its still a good co. if you,re home every night and you make enough money to take care of your family.

Sounds believable...I've often wondered why some yard jockeys seem cantankerous while working. They probably wonder the same thing when encountering an OTR driver thats been having a bad day!!! Same planet...different worlds.
BTW
If they hired another spotter to help you, they would increase the workload twofold. In the end you would probably get someone lazy and still end up doing everything!!!

 

It is believable. I filled in as a jockey at a Costco DC for a couple weeks 15 years ago, and let me tell you, it's a LOT of work and VERY stressful. I'd get about 5 or 6 moves right in a row (pulling loads out and replacing with empties) and just when (and many times even before) I'd get caught up, I'd get a bunch more.

Lunch? Forget about it. Eat on the fly. At the DC I worked at, the warehouse guys took a staggered lunch, which meant there were always trailers moving. I'd get caught up (again hopefully) and pull out a sandwich and take one bite and guess what? Four or five more trailers. Put it down, do the moves, get caught up, take another bite, and...you guessed it...4 or 5 more moves. It got old real quick.

You couldn't pay me enough to do yard work on a full-time basis.
