Drivers, why are we using GPS units?

The GPS can almost always get you on the right street.
I still suggest reading the numbers on the mailboxes.

 

Found two 9'-0" rail bridges on my route in Denver the other day. Good stuff.

 

My Rand Mc Nally thinks GWB is weight restricted. It kept wanting me to get off the Cross Bronx and do a flip. When I finally got on the bridge, it said that I was in truck weight violation.

Mine is just fine with the GWB... except I'm not.

 

Actually that's one of my favorite things about GPS. I hate trying to read house or business numbers.
Back in my limo days it took forever to find specific houses. Some numbers were on mailboxes, others by the door, sometimes over the garage. It could be in any variety of unreadable font or written out in letters. They really should pass an ordanance that numbers be marked in the street in a consistent font and color. Even if it was every block or thousand didgits it would be an improvement.

 

Good point. If it helps you sleep better, it's coming. Many jurisdictions in Canada and the US have laws in place for that now. Blue reflective signage with white reflective numbers and letters. Either posted on the driveway or the house.

 

Is the GWB still down to like one or two lanes on that one side?

I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but there is always something on the go on the GWB. Although I don't use it, I use CBS 880 AM News Talk Radio, you can get the Port Authority to 'Twitter', or whatever it's called, you up to the minute updates on issues on the decks, ramps, and feeder.

 

GWB has been down to ONE lane topside almost every night last few weeks...either in/out changes nightly same thing on Cross Bronx....prolly b like this till the snow flies....&actually for city info up to date(even tho they r affiliated now)your best bets AM 1010---every 10 mins on the ones....
