I guess this is a no brainer for anyone except me.
When I put in for my hometime , it's way in advance, and I give an 8 day reminder. Somehow, the last two times I don't get home until either very late on the requested day or the day after. This week is threatening to do the same thing. I'm en route to colorado for delivery tomorrow morning at 7am, then after I clear out the furniture pads , I go get my beer load that heads to Louiseville. I'm due home Sunday, beer delivers on Monday. Dispatch says hell get me a swap to get home.
I have trust issues with this kind of thing . After years at hearing this at mega carriers, and they know once you push. "Accept" the load, with all parameters , is on you. In theory, dispatch could laugh all the way home while I get home a day and a half late .
I know what you are going to say; set my hometime for a day earlier to ensure I get there the day I need to be there.
I know. And that is kind of what I did. I set it for Sunday so I'd make appts on time Monday and Tuesday. So it's an experiment of sorts to see if that is what I need to do from here on out. I did make plans to fish on Sunday though. -
Sounds like a company I worked for. I was 100 miles away from Oklahoma City where I was going to bid my daughter and Army son-in-law farewell as they left with my new granddaughter for Korea for 2 years when I got a QC message saying, 'Oops. We are sorry but you have to make the delivery; the other driver didn't want to make the swap.' I missed their departure.
The DM had known about this important hometime for 90 days and still couldn't make it happen. I left soon after; and even with two weeks notice, it took them almost four weeks to get me home.Wickedfire77 Thanks this. -
Well, I'll have to wake up at 3am if I'm to make it to Denver on time. No word on a swap for my beer load I pick up tomorrow. Hopeful it is a decent ride in with no surprises.

I'm tired as heck. Going to take a nap before I check on for my beer load. Still no word on a swap to get me home. Tick tock. We will see
-
Well , I can't sleep even though my eyes are hurting and bloodshot. I'm going to check in early to see if my beer load is ready, that way at least I'm not stressing about that .

I just noticed I overuse the word "well" as an intro . I will try to remedy that.
Kinda like the old wrestling superstar rants used to begin every monologue with yelling. "Ya know?!" Into a microphone -
Never noticed the word well until you mentioned it. That is a whole lot better than "like" or "totally"
-
That last one drives me up the wall. I know, right?RidgeRunner731 and popcorn169 Thank this. -
This is in no way the fault of the company. Here I sit, waiting for my preloaded trailer to get loaded so I can leave. Had an appt of 11pm last night. Had broken sleep as I scanned the lot every few hours for any new trailers that could be mine .
I am here still. I have a feeling I won't make a Sunday home time. I'll let you know how this all plays out. At least I get detention pay.
