The truck we just bought came equipped with a thermoking tripac. The orange light on the dash is on and after reading the manual and finding out it needs a regen, I got up to highway speeds and held it down for 5 seconds. Still no regen. Does anyone know of a way to manually regen it or trigger a regen another way? Thank you.
Thermo King TriPac?

I'm not making the connection between Tripac and regen?
-
The secret that I found out is to have the TriPac unit actually running in AC mode and then start the truck engine, once at highway speed (or at 1100-1200 rpms if you feel like sitting in the parking lot with your foot on the pedal for that long!) hold down the switch to start the regen. It may take as long as 25 or so seconds. Mine is usually around 8.
If the unit had been running in standby mode, or heat mode when the regen light comes on, and you try to do a regen, it will NOT work, no matter how long you hold in the switch! I spent 3 hours at a ThermoKing dealership to find this secret out.longbedGTs and Rigbuilder Thank this. -
The new Evolution model, in order to be CARB compliant, has its own DPF filter. Instead of the filter using fuel to create the heat for the regen process, it is electrical, using the trucks alternator output, and darn near all of it!

Thanks for the suggestions. My only problem is that the tripac will not come on because it has not regenerated. And now it says "Eng" when I turn it on.

Try holding down the regen switch for up to 30 seconds.
Do you have a separate panel light for the regen needed, that may also show a flashing (red) fault code?
You might want to open the cover on the TriPac to make sure that the shut off switch inside the engine compartment is not in the off position.
If that does not help, try putting the control panel switch on AC, even if the unit won't start, because it definitely will not regen in fan or heat positions. -
Hardlyevr, thank you very much! I just got it to go into regen mode by selecting A/C. The amber light(toggle switch light) is now flashing as well as another amber light on a little control box mounted in the sleeper. The APU wouldn't run with the key on and engine running, but the light is flashing so I guess it must be doing a regen. Seems the APU would need to run for it's own regen, but I guess not. *shrugs* The big motor is at an 800RPM idle and seems to be doing ok. Also thought I'd mention...the red light did flash a fault code and it was code 52. I don't know what that stands for, but am posting it for others that may have the same code. Thanks again!

52 code is that you reached the maximum hours to regen. If you do not do the regen when the yellow light first come on, you can run the unit for around 10 or so more hours, then it will give you a warning on the control panel, then after that the unit will shut down and not run until after you have done a regen.

Ok, new problem with a different truck I just got into. It was flashing code 52, cleared that and the APU will start up and run just fine for a few minutes until it shuts down and flashes 52 again. Tried everything mentioned here to get it to go into regen mode and it won't go. Thermo King customer support says there might be some codes stored that are preventing it from going into regen. They mentioned a USB cable that you hook up to your laptop to clear the code, but I can't find it. I already cleared the code 52, so any idea what they're talking about?

O
Hooking a laptop to see any codes would take the Thermo King software, which only their shops and mechanics would have.
