I was told the permits went out today and are coming to the truck stop that I am at. Roehl owes me over $2300.00 plus this week's and next week's settlement. If I have to wait until a week from Monday it won't be a disaster, just a pain and with how things have been over the past several months, it shouldn't be hard to do a lot better at Landstar.
My phone has been busy today with calls from Landstar. Bottom line is that I will be in orientation on Monday at Rockford.
How long does it usually take for application to go through?

Hey guys! It's been a month and half w Landstar. I love it so far! Money is good and no one tells you to do anything.
Dewey120, milskired, vikedog and 1 other person Thank this. -
My wife and I have been exploring the load board to get a feel for how the system works and how to make it work for us. My biggest question at orientation will be about separating out the fuel surcharge from the linehaul. I've noticed that most of the loads are listed with just linehaul. The biggest thing to get used to will be not having a dispatcher that does what he wants and I'm supposed to just do as I'm told. I think my biggest adjustment won't be from a business standpoint, but mental. I'm already starting to make the adjustment from miles to gross revenue. Long runs aren't necessarily your friend. I've seen short loads that if I was paid mileage I would reject, that I would love now.
I will just drive down to Rockford tomorrow and sleep at the terminal. -
It took me about 6 months before I finally got used to someone on the Qualcomm not asking why I stopped early or other BS. I love being self dispatched at Landstar and how if I want to spend a couple of days somewhere I don't have a dispatcher telling me no.vikedog Thanks this.

My wife and I have been discussing how we want to run my schedule. I think for the moment I'm going with the schedule I set myself up on when I was still at Roehl. I'll be gone longer than I like, but it was designed to get me home for special events through the end of the year. The nice thing about self dispatching is that I can look for opportunities to get through the house.

When you see a load posted without the FSC broken out, it's pretty simple to figure. Take the miles it shows and multiply by .48cpm (this week) and subtract it from the LH.
Not to sure what you plan on pulling, or where you plan to run, but it does take a while to figure it all out. But being from IL, if to stick to the Midwest, you should be home every weekend and do well.
Whatever you do, DO NOT CHASE THE MONEY LOADS TO FLORIDA. you will see a lot of them, paying very well, but you need to figure in the 500 miles empty back to GA for your next load. I would only run the Midwest. But that's just my experience -
I should have explained my question better. When I see only linehaul, does Landstar break out the FSC on their own before taking their 35%? I don't like going where I don't know how I'm going to get back out. I'm not real anxious to go to Florida, I might be persuaded to go to Texas, but I'm quite content to stay close to home.
I was going to stay at the terminal, but I couldn't get inside, so I'll be in orientation in the morning. Tonight I'm staying at the truck stop just south of US 20 on I-39. -
You'll find out that the agent who you book the load with has to break out the FSC when they put it into the system. Just ask them for "the breakdown". I've not had one yet NOT break out the FSC for me. You'll also find out that you will hardly ever call corporate for anything. And if you are smart, you won't call them for anything. I have not spoke to anyone in corp for almost a year. I stay off the radar and that's the bestmilskired Thanks this.

That's why you and Forty are here along with a couple others I know of from the past few years. I can bug you all with questions instead of calling corporate!
