That would be me. My wife's grandpa was a trucker in the 50s in California.......I wouldn't do this job without all the modern conveniences. I'm too much of a sissy. Lol
-
i cant wait to get my new truck in december
automatic then my knees wont hurt
but i wont be a real truck driver either
i am so ashamed of myself.........
Rocks and tangerineGT Thank this. -
We drive an automatic now. Love it ! It's like driving an automatic car. You really appreciate it in heavy traffic.
slim shady Thanks this. -
I don't think I would be able to do this job without GPS and Google Satellite... or at least I would not do it as efficiently and as quickly as I do....
Not saying that I rely solely on those... I do always check my Road Atlas maps, consult my lists, call customers for directions... I use all the help I can get....
FatDaddy and tangerineGT Thank this. -
Hey, you know what? I saw a highway patrol officer inside Subway here and decided to take the opportunity to tell him about the officer "checking" me out last night at the rest area... And asked him if anything had happened in that area for them to be knocking on drivers' doors in the middle of the night...
He told me it's part of their Commercial vehicle safety enforcement whatever... and that some people with warrants and felonies hide in rest areas at night... so they go knocking on doors to know who is there....
And I said, yeah... but waking up a truck driver in the middle of the night, disturbing their 10 hr break is not right.... If they want to check us out or give us a level 1, do that while we are awaken and not in the middle of our OFF duty time... And he agreed with me... He said he had no idea why the officer last night did what he did...
Well... at least I vented some and let him know what I think about it... And didn't risk getting an inspection for that...
FatDaddy, tangerineGT and Giggles the Original Thank this. -
Hey... You drive for USXpress right? I "failed" their road test because when I tried to stop, I got "confused" with no clutch and the truck bounced and the big lady who wasn't wearing seat belt and seating on the edge of the bed while yapping with examiner felt on the floor and hurt her elbow...
They disqualified me and she got the job...
Maybe it was better that way... I didn't like that automatic at all...
and much less the screen on the dashboard instead of the fender mirror...

They shouldn't have failed you because they let in some really bad drivers. We could use more good drivers like you.
Rocks Thanks this. -
Thank you TruckDuo, for the kind words...
I believe that everything happens for a reason... After that, I found a place where I felt very welcome and got a great dedicated account where I stayed for over 5 yrs... And I wish you guys all the best on your new dedicated account...
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
At the Ute Mountain Casino again. While I was waiting for a table in the restaurant I played a $5 bill in the nickel slots and won $29.55. Not too shabby.

Would have been a straight back in spot if not for...

Shut down in the middle of the lot.
Posted this in truckers rants but felt it too good not to share here too.
