I don't know about the half truth thing, but if you and your wife share the same bank account, I think the bank will go on total income coming in, and you should be ok.

They single out dump trucks because they know that we are almost always overloaded
-
That's true, maybe not so much gross, but almost always on an axle. When I hauled sand in a trailer, the guy would come up to the scale and finish loading me for gross and I'd check my axles, good to go, and down the road it would settle or a brake check, it would move and I'd be over on the drives. Same when I drove a tri-axle, you almost had to pile some on the cab protector to get enough on the steer.

I dunno bout y'all but pulling a belly dump is where it's at.. Being in the oilfield is the cherry on top. $110 a hour for the truck, $22 a hour for the driver and it's nonstop year round dump work

Dang man where do you live at? Yeah I'm about to start my new dump truck job September 29th. He has belly dumps but is starting me out on a regular dump with pup trailer. Hopefully I'll get a raise quickly from $13 an hour. That's been my biggest hang up with working for him but I want to be a dump trucker and I only make $14 an hour now so not much difference except I won't have to haul poop anymore. I had 3 loads of gravel delivered to my house yesterday and after seeing it delivered, I think I'm going to love it. Maybe I just like rocks I dunno.

Well got my truck today and spent 12 hours stockpiling iron ore. Pretty neat what they got going on. They lease or buy land, find different type of rock veins and mine it and sell it. They do a lot more than that but I think that's their big thing. Maybe I'm just unconditioned for dump truckin, but I'm pretty dang tired. I mean I'm 26 years old and my knees and back hurt. I didn't really feel this tired at my last job, but I really do think I'll love this gig once I figure out what I'm doing. Do y'all ache a little when y'all get done with work? I'm just a tad frustrated cause I keep telling myself "dude your 26, stop being a little b!+ch" I suppose I need to toughen up quite a bit.

Hey Grizz, it's like anything else, you'll get used to it. Burning circles is a little rough, as opposed to sitting back watching the mile markers go by for 11 hours. Just remember, at quittin' time, you can walk away, and not look at the truck until the next morning.Mattnatti Thanks this.

That's a good point Semi, most days " burning circles " is nice. Time flys by, a lot of gravel hits the ground and you get paid.
Then there are just some days when you roll through the gate in the morning with 9-10 loads scheduled and by the time the pit closes you've dropped 13-14 loads in 9 1/2 hrs. I catch myself sometimes wishing of a 500 miles trip on these days. -
Hi Mattnatti, the most loads I think I did in a day was like 27 when I was stockpiling from one side of the pit to the other. Boy howdy, that was a long day.
Mattnatti Thanks this. -
I live up in colorado. Starting pay is around $16. Drive in circles all day but it's a fast paced job most of the time I only get out of my truck to get my ticket, or to stretch.
I get sore, my knees from sitting and my back after all the rough roads. And end dumping you have to get out it's not just sitting for hours.
