I had 10 years in the Guard in a Combat Engineer unit after the regular Army .It didn't count as driving experience but helped me getting a job because I could drive heavy equipment and low bed.

Yeah I get the point about work history. What Im saying is that alot of companies want verified tractor trailer experience. Your work history for these companies doesnt cut it, they want to know how many miles you have driven and in what. I was Marine Corps for 14 years, when I got out the military wouldnt verify my actual miles driven cause there was no record for them to process.

Some companies dont care about verified miles, BUT some do!

As I said before, your NG experience(work History), will do fine BUT your gonna have to put down all the jobs you had along with that history. They will find out if you dont. Any company that submitted a W2 that you ever worked for will be on your record when they do your work history.

Although more to the point is are you gonna be able to find a job when you get out of your CDL school? Most likely YES! Just make sure that when you fill out your application be as exact as possible? Case in point... a buddy of mine went to an orientation with CRST, while there, there were gaps or mis-representations in his work history that he left out. End result he didnt get hired. The reason they gave him was he had to many job in a period of time and was considered to be a hire risk or walk out

There is a silver lining in all this though... You served your country in the military! Most trucking companies are "PRO" military in a big way and majorly into patriotism. That is your edge! Its a pretty good bet your gonna get offers from recruiters. Just do your home work on which ones you want to go to. Most recruiters are there to get you in the door and some have quota's for recruitment. So please do your homework and find out what they offer. From one veteran to another... it will save you alot of headaches!

The FMCSA requires you to document the last 10 years of work history. This includes time working, time in school, and time just unemployed. When I started in 1996, I had not worked since 1993. All I had to do was to provide names and phone numbers of people that could verify what I was doing. I don't know about todays megas but that was with a major national company that was very careful about following the DOT regs. Call some recruiters and talk to them now.
