reefer containers

    ok i am coming from central ref so I def have reefer experience. but how in the world do we turn on those reefer containers? i saw 3 in the yard today at a place i deliver. and i tried to turn them on and none of them went on? the spotter said they are tricky.

    Are you talking about the unit mount to the chassis or the unit in the box? The chassis mounted one or the ones I've dealt with were on toggle switchs hold it down heat the glow plugs and push to the up position and the little screen should show a count down sequence and the unit starts on its own. The unit on the box has to be plugged into the unit on the chassis. The port guys I dealt with set the temp so I don't know about that part of it.

    The underslung unit on the chassis is a GEN SET and the REEFER unit on the container is ELECTRIC , so it can be powered by SHORE POWER if gen set is not available on land as well as gets plugged into the ships electrical system while on the container ship
