I am a rookie, but I don't think I have ever seen an excavator on a step deck.
-
Small ones.....up to 160s...............go on steps every day

I'm confused?? What "rails" on your trailer are making it oversize anyways????
as for the loader, I'd just fold in the mirrors and roll with it. -
Not sure what the upper radiator hose looks like on your truck, but every time I've popped a hose on my Mack out on the road, I've been able to call NAPA, Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, Car Quest, Bumper 2 Bumper, etc....basically any auto parts store that has delivery trucks to run parts to local repair shops. Even had an Auto Zone district manager out east of Henderson, KY show up in his personal car with a hose and several gallons of distilled water one time. If they are busy, their account customers get priority...but I've found they usually want to try to help. If it is a straight piece of hose, they ought to have it...just got to know the size. Even if it's got a bend in it, they might have something that'll work. Only time I HAVEN'T been able to find the hose I needed somewhere other than through Mack was the time the T-hose that comes up from the lower radiator hose and branches off to the oil cooler popped. That was a "special" hose. Only thing is, though, the hoses you get from the auto parts stores will be the black rubber....NOT the silicone or whatever is used. They'll still work, though. So if you are near a town, I'd try calling around to find something quicker than a special order....and cheaper than getting it through a truck stop.jbatmick Thanks this.

Shc he mean rub rails. Its sticking out past the rub rails.
-
Hurst said that the rails made his trailer wide. SCH's question is how do the rails make the trailer wide. Usually a 102" trailer is 102" from outside to outside of the rubrail. Nobody is talking about the excavator being wide, we already know that.SHC Thanks this.

I missed the part about the radiator hose letting go. Sounds like the trip from "you know where". Hope it get's better. And people wonder why the divorce rate is so high among truckers. The missus is probably home with her arms folded saying, "We were supposed to paint the bathroom this weekend".

As for trailer width... 102" from rail to rail. I had always had 96" trailers. So I figured how hard would it be to split 1 inch?
Heres where stress and lack of sleep will screw a driver up. Rescue tape worked as advertised. Heck I think I probably could have rolled all the way to NH like that. Since I was passing where Freightliner was any way, I decided to sleep there till morning. Website said they opened at 7am. Soooooo 7am comes.... 7:30.. 7:45... and I read the sign on the gate. Mon - Fri 7am to midnite. Sat 7am to 5pm.
CLOSED Sunday.
I wanted to beat my head on the steering wheel. I call around. MHC Kenworth was open and said he was sure he could match something up. I head over there.. and yup. Just what the doctor needed.
$78 for upper elbow to radiator.
$6 for 2 new clamps.
$36 for 3 gals of Shell Rotella extended life coolant.
$10 rescue tape
$10 gorilla tape.
Still cheaper then paying $285 + parts for a service guy to come out.
I'm shooting for a tues morning delivery. Unless they stay open late on Mon.
Wish me luck fellas.. no more nickel and dime bs. Momma wants new wheels on her Mustang and I still need to get back to Fl to get my wiring harness replaced and sorted out.
HurstCetane+ Thanks this. -
Was it a steel pipe then, and not a rubber hose?
SHC Thanks this.
