An O/O is someone who is leased onto a company so their loads come from the companies load board. If you have your own authority you are a Motor Carrier and are completely independent and you normally find loads off a load board like The Internet Truckstop.

No, an O/O is leased onto a motor carrier. The motor carrier deals with the shipper then the O/O picks up the load. An O/O has no insurance in their name and cannot make deals with anyone. Only the motor carrier can.

this is a LEASED OPERATOR or L/O
an Owner Operator (O/O) MAY have a working relationship with a carrier
but carries his own insurance and may make his own deals with customers

Me too..... I bought my truck from a new truck dealer, had my own authority (both MC & DOT numbers), bought my own insurance, drove the truck myself, made deals with both brokers & shippers (& sometimes receivers to pick up their freight), did my own billing, looked for my own loads, booked my own loads, picked & chose the loads I wanted & left the rest....

I dont know what else to say. Honestly, maybe I am wrong.... but I always considered myself an O/O since I owned & operated my own truck & trailer, had my own authority & never leased to any company. I'm not being rude here, maybe there is something I dont know, but I am just stating that I always considered myself an O/O..
