You did get a good taste of what OTR is about!
I heard a stat many yrs ago that 60% of new CDL drivers drop out of the industry within 9 mos.
Then over the next 1-2 yrs, many drop out due to several reasons:
1) The OTR life is not for them---away from family & friends, long out times vs. short home times, etc.
2) Incidents & accidents affect their 'value' within the industry if try to keep/chg jobs.
3) The vulnerability for tkts and DOT violations during inspections/while crossing scales also can affect their trucking reputation.
All that has to be weighed if one wants to stay in the industry 'long-term' as a career.

Sorry to drudge it up, but did you go back? How did it go the next time around if so? Really pulling for you, it sounds like you were unlucky with the inspector and/or trainer..
-
I'm also curious. Please update if you can. Thanks
