Drivers, why are we using GPS units?

Love my gps. Both of them. Love the Qualcomm too. Between the 3 I never get lost. Embrace technology. It's the future.

 

I've been using 'The Force', Luke. I've only been lost once, but that was only after I sensed a great disturbance in 'The Force'.

I look at all these things as tools for my use. I drive otr, so I'm often going places I've never been. I use them all, trust none. I trust myself, that's it. I'll look at my Qualcomm, my phone GPS (strictly auto) my RM atlas, and my new Smart Truck Route software (scales, truck stops, more, very useful for planning) on my new tablet. I've learned that Google Maps will give me a visual of my shipper/receivers place of business, and I can go to street view and actually see the entrance. Usually. So all the tools add up pretty well, but there's still no substitute for common sense and focus.
