Also learned before I could drive on a small garden tractor & cart. Once I got my license (and probably a bit before) there was always a utility, boat, car, or horse trailer that needed to be moved someplace else...
But it wasn't until truck driving school that I learned any sort of precision. When you have acres to work with, you just kinda let the trailer park where it wants. Can't exactly tell a shipper "dock 3? but my trailer would prefer dock 4."
textbook backing?

I never learned to back up. I just jump out, find someone who looks intelligent and toss them the keys and $10. I'm happy to report I have NO backing accidents.

Yes, there are rough "formulas" for the "standard" backing scenarios.
TheDude1969 Thanks this. -

Never mind, I was a fool... kids asked me how to hook a trailer, I explained and then they ask "what about a ball hitch?" <---somethings up!
I got it out of them, and pulled the hitches from my vehichles, and called the other parents to inform them. Nothing bad, just don't want my kids in charge of pulling other peoples toys.unloader Thanks this. -
