well everyone.... has been a lot of hard work....no not really.... I run, out of Opelousas and been to Terrell Tx. New Caney Tx, Palestine Tx, and Robert La.... not a bad first week... well like 10 days.... for everybody out there thank you very much for all that you have done to help me get through this rookie fever.... all the drivers for the most part have been helpful in every way.... to all the new hires.... and I know it has been said before and you will hear it like a 100 times... find a routine with the paperwork and the obc..... it might take a couple of mistakes....like not clocking yourself offduty or forgetting to change your load on your log, but it will all come:biggrin_25525:. I have never had to use a obc before, but a few days and I was set at ease... still looking for that right routine... and the etd thing.... I am always running hard, don't any different till now... so very new to me..... It will all come I know....

Well, my husband didn't pass this time but they want him back in a year. He did great except he coasted to stop at a light instead of staying gear so he was failed out. He is very upset but said now he knows and will be back next year. Does anyone know is it a year from when he first put his application in or a year from the day he was denied? Just want to keep in on the calendar so we don't wait too long as he wants this job so bad.

BTW. Thank you to everyone for all of the help!

Did he throw it in neutral and coasted to a stop? I am bad at doing that, it's such a habit but i think most guy's do it. I am waiting for a call for the pre/trip road test so i will try not to do that. Sorry about your husband. What do you guy's think? Just push the clutch in but leave it in gear and coast? Unless you want to down shift every gear.lol

It's kind of a silly thing In my opinion. I'm in a automatic right now that shifts to neutral when I'm slowing down for a stop. Before the auto I had always done the same. Most veteran drivers I know do the same

Sorry to hear about your husband DEDriver, I know you guys were really geared up about the job. I've been trying to find an answer about the time table to reapply but none of the guy's I know are really sure. Maybe drozzer or NYVET can answer better. I really don't understand that coasting out of gear thing. We all do it. When I did my road test, I know I did it, but I also downshifted (wanted to show him I could it) and also left it in gear as I approached a stop. I know, water under the bridge right. I'll keep looking for an answer and will post as soon as I can.

I believe its a year from the date he failed. Each safety manager judges on at set guideline that the company provides and their own personal judgment. I know when I road tested, I down shifted for every stop and my safety manger said I didn't have to do that. I told him I liked doing that, I felt I had better control over any type of coasting (neutral/clutched pushed in). Sorry to hear he didn't pass but at least he can reapply and try again later. Keep a good spirit about it will help.

He was definitely taken aback by the failure as he only did it at one light and downshifted all the other times. Personally it seems that perhaps they look for a reason to fail you the first time so they know you really are what they are looking for one the second go around. I could be wrong but it just seems like such a stupid thing when the safety guy said he passed the per trip with a 95%!! He's just let down now but he will just keep his nose clean at his current job and try again next year.

I have no reason to believe this to be the case. Myself and quite a few others passed on the first try. When someone goes through the process a second time, they already know what to expect and are more likely to pass. The process that exists today is easier than it was just a year ago. At least now you do not have to start with a face to face interview with 3 people. Instead, it is a phone interview.

Good luck on the next try and be prepared to be flawless. Do that and you will succeed. :)

Seems a petty reason to fail someone. And they are desperate for drivers too. I can see if he did something dangerous but that's ridiculous if you ask me. Anyway, sorry that happened, and he can re-apply one year from the date they failed him.
