What would you do?

    seems like a lot of risk for little reward to me. But I'm not always perfect either, remember showing up to haul a compactor. It was one of three partials loading in WI to TX on a friday. About 1-1/2" too tall. Also recall picking up a telehandler that had some kind of aftermarket wheels on it making it a bit wide. Had a permit on that one, but not until grabbing second stop.

    Part of the reason I don't haul much equipment anymore, especially off of load boards, and especially partials. Alot ain't as described, online specs are only a rough estimate.

    I always figure you have one chance to renegotiate. And that is after you see it and before they put it on your trailer.

    Doesn't everyone do annual permits? I got several annual permits in my truck. I haul quit a bit of 60' rebar and wide concrete septic tanks..

    For the radiator?

    Rubber elbow.

    There is a straight rubber coupler coming off the manifold to a metal tube that 90's off toward the radiator neck with a rubber 90 deg couple.

    It had been rubbing on the fan shroud and blew a golf ball sized tear. I keep cut to fit hoses for just about everything else. Just not the form hoses.

    Besides steal plates and hay.. I dont really do too much over size. They dont pay enough to make it worth while.

    $3 mi for a 28k lb machine is Cha ching for me. Averaging 6.12 mpg which for me is pretty good. I'd prob get a little better but hills getting in the way.

    I'd roll all night and only go through the weighbridges when the radio tells me they're closed. Then I'd use the money from this trip to get annual permits. Too expensive in time applying for a permit for each load.

    Not every state offer annual permits, hence why we don't all have them

    Here you can do permits online and have a digital copy, which I can then print up here in the truck. Its not very time consuming at all. Most of the time I dont even print it up. I just load the PDF on my phone and show them the digital copy. I think Colorado is one of the few states where I have to print it on paper and sign it for it to be legal.

    For me it was more about the principle of needing to permit something so ridiculous.

    Plus what you saved in permits, maybe you can afford to have a spare key hidden outside the trk. somewhere..

    I only have the 1 key. While my wife was out with me this summer she had mentioned we should get a spare key made and stash it somewhere. She reminded me of this conversation after I had explained what I had done. Shoulda, woulda, coulda,..

    Whats it cost to get a spare key made,.. $5,.. $10? I know they havent changed much.

    My truck is an 05,.. and a guy with a 2012 locked himself out next to me. He asked me if I could try my key in his door. I asked if it was his truck,.. he said his wallet was inside. So I put my key in his door and it unlocked like my key belonged to that truck. My wife was horrified over that,.. being a retired police officer,.. she said if your key works in his truck,.. that means his will unlock ours. All I could say was,.. Yep.
