    Hi all,

I'm new to TTR, but love the help and wisdom drivers are sharing. So, the last time I drove was in 2005 pulling a dedicated reefer for Werner. I want back in and have kept up my CDL, but every listing I look at requires recent experience or out of CDL school. So, are there any companies that will take a chance and provide a "refresher" program for a trucker who wants to return to the road? Right now, only CRE has accepted me, but after doing due-diligence on this website... the reports are VERY negative on CRE. I've applied to Stevens, but haven't heard back yet.

    Thanks

Prime will but no one else ever talks good about them. My brother went there for it and doing his year then going elsewhere.

USA Truck will take you, they will give you miles if you can run them, but they are always late on getting you home, after 3-6 months with them I would look somewhere else.

Today, i rcvd a call from JB Hunt recruiter named Brittany, she stated they have a dedicated position in Austin, Tx. (you've been out of the game for awhile, but it seems appropriate to forward the prospect. As for my interest...it couldnt work for myself.

Thanks jsprocket. I have heard "almost" as much negative concerning Prime as I have England... "almost!"

Thanks kutuzov. That's what I was figuring... 6-months out with a larger "mill-type" of company and then to something better. England accepted me, but from what I heard, they'll ask me to lease which would stick me there for two years.

Hey chinatown. I'll look into those recommendations. I know that Stevens is also a carrier that was recommended for having a "refresher" program.

Look at Millis Transfer in Burleson, TX & need $500.00 for tuition. Company has an excellent reputation with drivers.

STOP what you're doing! I would recommend you go to Swift! IF you can pass a road test, they will hire you, put you out with a trainer POSSIBLY for 1-2 weeks to make sure you know what you're doing, then you're solo. You don't need to pay for school or refresher courses. They gave a pay raise to their drivers as well. CRE is still paying a measly .26 CPM, Swift is at .30 or .31 per mile for new drivers.

Swift isn't the best company, but for starting off with experience, it is a good company for a STARTER company. I'd recommend you get your experience and move on.
