Are you sure that you got it all out? Are you losing coolant at all? Do you have a oil/water trans cooler?
-
truck dont run hot or loose coolant been maybe three months since the cooler was put on no water in oil . could the air compresor possibly do this its slow to build air has over 800 thou on it
-
When a compressor head gasket fails, it can pump air pressure in the coolant and push past the radiator cap, but not oil. If the compressor is passing oil, you'll be getting oil through your air dryer. I assume that you have the BA921 single cylinder compressor? They were known for coking up and building slow. You can get a valve kit for them, but with that many miles, you should probably just replace the compressor. Oil in your cooling system can also clog up the lines to the compressor making it run hotter than it should. Usually the 1st place you can see it is in the fitting in the block where the coolant hose from the back of the compressor connects.
Double check that no coolant is in the transmission if your trans is cooled by engine coolant. If that's OK, I'd lean toward not flushing the engine good enough. If you have a remote reservoir, pinch off the hoses, pull it off and flush it out really good, then drain the coolant out of the engine. Put it back together and flush it out with water and cooling system flush a few more times.
While it's drained, pull the coolant hoses to the compressor and make sure they're clear. -
ok i flushed it three times today ill look it over again tomar ill let ya know what i find but trans is air cooled
-
I flushed mine at least 7 times and I still get a slight bit of oil here and there in coolant. It hides in the nooks and crannies.I replaced the hoses and still not all gone so could be just residual
-
I would also say it is left over from last time.
-
Are you using a detergent like dawn when you flush ? I use dawn or joy with straight water get it up to temp let it run a while. You will help yourself but will have to flush a few times to get the dawn out but the oil will be gone
-
First off there is NO possibility of the air compressor putting oil into the coolant, the head has coolant in it, the head gasket is a flat gasket, the block is air cooled only, NO coolant.
The best way to flush a cooling system, is to mix a pail of dishwasher soap, and Arm and Hammer washing soada in warm water, you fill it with every drop you can get in, you want the fluid to blow out the cap. When you are going to drain it open the top rad hose bleed to get that oil out, It takes at least three flushes to clean it, I have an adapter I made from a water filter head with a nipple welded to it, and a washer threaded to take a 3/4 in NPT, I put in a tap and nipple with a hose. I use that for quick draining and I have a rad tester cap I use to preasurise the cooling system, with shop air on a regulator. You have to get the unit hot for it to work and three fan in cycles works, to do that you need max RPM, I cover the rad with a tarp.
Just a thought! -
im useing borax that a cat shop told me to try did that acouple times seams like the most of its in the radiator gettin better going to try the dawn tomarrow
