I turn my signal on and start creeping over. If someone is beside me I just slow down a little more and keep creeping over. People behind me generally get the idea, and don't usually fight me...if they do I just keep creeping over regardless of whether they get out of my way or not. Eventually, people behind me in the lane I want to get in will get the idea and let me in, because they really don't have a choice. Rarely takes me more than 500 feet to get over. No, I have never hit anybody with this technique.

There needs to be a law that you proceed to the next ramp then pull over.

Backing up traffic with ppl rubbernecking at the money extortion is retarrrded.

(Yes I wrote my state congress rep with no success)

they dont have a choice ? this is a very unprofessional move that will get somebody hurt , you should study the smith system sometime before you cause an accident

That might include not slowing from 75 to 65 in a 55.

It's move over or slow. In those some places, if you can't move over, slow to the minimum speed limit. That's about the best you can do.

I'll often engage my hazard lights in these situations. Give a heads up to those behind that can't see. This helps even if you have made the lane change successfully, to discourage those that want to pass on the right.

Not that I'm aware. I got a thank you wave from a trooper on a NARROW shoulder helping a disabled vehicle when I gave him a heads up air horn.

I'm with you on this. However, there are times when coming over the top of a hill or around a curve where you don't have that much time to get over. That's when getting pinned in the right lane becomes an issue.

If you have morons dreaming along down the highway next to you, it wouldn't matter if its 2 miles. They don't freaking move. These are the same jokers who read left lane closed signs for three miles and still can't successfully merge right before the last second, forcing everyone else to brake.
