need draining air tanks advice.

    Back in the 70's early 80's I used to drain all the air tanks at he end of the day, but no more, not for years.

    That's what I used to do...maybe twice a day if the weather was really cold , but never more than that.

    In the last 6 years I've had to drain my tanks once and that was when my air dryer went out so they bypassed it until I got back to the shop.

    I quick tug on the valve line, and if there's no water mist, then your good. I check mine just to make sure the air dryer is doing its job, after a rainy day.

    I check my tanks once a week for moisture. Pull the cable....no moisture no drain!

    Engine derate is EPA requirement for making our planet safe :biggrin_25525:.

    Engine derates to 55 Mph and then to 5Mph due to 1) No DEF in the tank or 2) Poor DEF quality or 3) Tampering with the SCR system.
