Thanks for the encouraging words. I have had good luck finding parking at exit 152, one of the Zanesville exits. It is a Super 8, McDonald's and another restaurant that have truck parking. Can pick up free WiFi from the Super 8.

Curious where y'all park your truck when u take home time? I know yo take your truck with u just curious where u find the room to park ur Tractor w/Trailer

 

I also did the community college thing. Went to North Georgia Tech in Clarkesville, Ga. 10 week course lots of backing and driving. actually logged 1000 miles btw believe it or not. They didn't take the pell grant for the truck program but Georgia has the HOPE grant which covered my 4k tuition. I had to pay some school fees but only about 2-300 came out of my pocket. Though I did drive back and forth from Gainesville. Best thing about it was I worked third shift as a security guard so I didn't have to quit my job while going to school. My partner and instructor were cool, let me nap in the sleeper till my turn to drive back to the school.

As a L/P can u get ur own ins or do you have to keep TA's?

 

Jaso, honeybadger or Pete will have to answer on those things, jdmredneck. My husband was company with TransAm and I never really looked over the lease agreements or settlements. I am sure one of them will answer when they get back on.

 

My husband always used to park his trailer in an empty lot near the police station in the town near where we live. Then he would bobtail home with the truck.

 

$881.00 for 3,117 miles = 28.3 cents per mile. Then you have to deduct "off paycheck expenses" stuff like weight tickets, oil, coolant that a driver may have just paid with cash, points, etc.

That is just one observation I can make. There is a lot more to it, as HTQ said maybe best to have a lease driver explain it. Drivers who post here seem to have an understanding of what is going on. I have talked to lease drivers out on the road and they seem completely baffled about what they are charged for and paid. I have a minor degree in accounting from Illinois State University and I can not understand a TransAm lease settlement statement.

 

I certainly understand what you're talking about, passport. George has had some messed up swaps and dealt with a lot too. Lately the positives have been overplayed by the negatives. I'm curious to see how things are going to play out with his truck in MN with transmission being fixed. The truck he recovered is a 2015 T680, teal blue. After recovering it, he was dispatched to Nebraska for a load of pork going first to the yard but ultimately to Athens, GA. Bet he'll get the load to the yard and they'll put him on the bus again back to MN for his truck. With home time being Monday, it will be interesting to see what else follows!
