####... and i wisn i could afford a VORAD setup.. with adaptive cruise if it's offered yet; to me the benefits offset the annoyance. Though i'd insist on a volume control and an off switch if i could.

Just had to comment on this thread. I worked for Eaton for quite a few years. Even with some of the quality issues with this product in the past, The most common issue that led to complaints was driver's not understanding what the system did, how it did it and why it did it. If I were to ask the entire audience here on this thread if they all had the read the owners manuals for the product I bet not even half of the posters, (that Complain) have read it. And this also goes for the technicians. Drivers complaining of alerts for over head signs more than few times means that your tech that is supposed to know how to work on the product does not know what it does how it does or why it does it either. And let me guess he probably says "well nobody will send me to school to learn" If those techs had any smarts they would sit down and spend some time on their own and start getting up to speed on new products coming and the one from the past that still don't have the slightest grasp of now. The future is here folks. Bendix now owns the Vorad system and has taken it to the next level.... Read and up and learn to let it help you... It will be standard on every new vehicle built before long.....

The sound is what annoys me also. Nice to be able to use The Cruse still in traffic though.

I found a way to shut it up. Pull it out of the dash and unplug it. I complain to the shop about it all the time and nothing gets done. It goes off for no reason most of the time and drives me nuts. Now I have my peace and quite back, and I'm more relaxed. I also asked the shop to adjust the headlights. Now if I hit the high beam it shoots up into space.

I am not a trucker but a pilot. I have an issue with my Eaton Vorad on my 2008 Executive 45' motorhome.
I talked with a guy name Bob a few weeks ago but lost his number.
I have a problem with my Cruise. It will not engage and I had a fault and I think the code was 13 when I did a diagnostic. I did make some checks including puling the front radar unit and spraying some CRC on the contacts but no help. I did have the proper voltage to it. Bob suggested I disable it via pressing the cruise 5 times in a row to disconnect it from the ECU. I did this but now have nothing. I cannot even get it to idle faster by pressing the cruise when I am doing a warmup. I have searched all kind of manuals Eaton and Cummings for a reset but to no avail.
Since you worked for Eaton, I realize it is now Bendix, do you have any suggestions.

    Thanks for any help.

Those with cruise control issues, flip the cruise switch on and off three time. Cruise should work now. I had the #### thing at tmc. I also 'fix' it with a pair of wire snips. Try having it bleeping for hours in nyc traffic.

I worked for a company for years that had the Eaton Vorad system. Now I work for a company that has Volvo Enhanced Cruise Control. Both are junk, and do absolutely nothing to prevent an accident. I will concede that maybe....just maybe in a few isolated select instances, reduce the severity of an accident. They will not prevent one at all. If the driver is that zoned out, by the time it beeps, it is way too late. You may not hit as hard, or may be able to hit the ditch instead of the vehicle in front of you, but you are still gonna hit something. They are more of a distraction and an aggravation than anything. And then you get into the situation where most companies that buy them will not maintain them right. At the last company every truck I drove, the "blind spot" sensor would beep every single time you activated the right turn signal. I reported it and it was never fixed. So, I just learned to ignore it. I know I shouldn't have ignored it, but I just checked the blind spot myself, like I was supposed to do in the first place. Point is, all the wonderful techie stuff doesn't work right to start with, and doesn't work right eventually because of maintenance issues. A well trained, observant, professional driver doesn't need that stuff. And a "steering wheel holder" son't benefit from it. They are a waste of money some company sold company executives and insurance companies on. An earlier poster implied they would be standard equipment. That is because selling them to a suit in a purchasing dept at a factory is easier than selling them to an end user who knows the truth about them. Ok.....rant is over.....thanks for letting me rant.

Sounds like an electronic addition to the 5 keys to space cushion driving...

the newer system works a lot better. They are self calibrating now so it won't break for ghosts or other false positives. It's nice to "see" 600 feet ahead in the fog but they still derate/slow the truck too early. Might be a configuration issue.
