At Chez Obetz.
Was running hard to get my guy back to GB, was planning a quick grab an go, hit the pilot on the west side of Columbus, weigh, fuel and shut down. Had plenty of time until I noticed the DOT bumper was bent out three inches beyond the end of the trailer. Called SEM just to see if I could run it to Gary and get it fixed during my 30 min break. Even if it took 2 houtlrs I would still be better off in terms of my HOS (trust me on this one).
SEM answers right away, but I get the most wet behind the ear new hire whose an idiot to boot. Told her I had 40 minutes to drive (had just under 1.5) and I just needed to know if I could run or had to backtrack to Obetz. Her response was "oh, with that little I'll just mark you on break". Had to explain again that I could not break where I was and I had a choice run on the load or go in the opposite direction to the OC. 10 minutes later my trainee - whose English skills leave much to be desired- is shaking his head in disbelief. She finally gets the work order done and tells me to expect a call within 2 hours.
My facial expression was scary enough my trainee flinched away from me. I calmly told her I would wait 10 minutes and then I had to move to safe and legal. "You need to stay there because that's where the tech is going to think you are". I responded with "you don't understand the HOS do you? I'm just going to the OC and let them deal with it"
So I run to Obetz where the service advisor ridicules me for even asking about it. I break out the go to line "I'll run if you write it up in the system as being legal to run as is".
He went and got the forklift to 'bend it back in' - then broke the #### thing off.
In the grand scheme of things it's not that big of a deal, but man did it harsh my buzz.91B20H8 and mickimause Thank this. -

In Twin Falls, ID. Picking up a Late load that was supposed to be Picked up at 7am this morning. Getting paid for sitting here so all good.
In other news got the Truck back today and purrs like a kitten.. Its a Huge diff with New Injectors, Head adjustment, DoC and DPF all replaced, they also went thur and turned the ECM and updated all the computers on board. MPG is a heck of alot better for the first time in as long as I can remember the truck got 9mpg pulling a empty reefer tlr. Also got a new toy today for some gauges I'm missing in my truck like a boost gauge. The nice thing about this little thing is you can adjust so its accurate going down the road so you know your real MPG instead of whatever the computer magically pulls out of its arse.

Maples hills (just west of Topeka. This has to be my favorite truckstop. Huge showers. Cheap laundry. Great sandwiches. Free wifi. Plenty of parking. All they need is a cat scale. Speaking of which......is there a scale anywhere in Topeka? I checked my maps and searched exit by exit, but I can't find one. I guess maybe a recycle center? I have a 40k load that I picked up there and am heading to Aurora, but the only cat scale is west of the weight station. Hope it's closed at 330am lol. Then hopefully Denver to home. Texas killed me on hours this week with all the delays from accidents.
Got something really important to do Monday at home.Fajo and mickimause Thank this. -

At least your trainee got first hand experience (so to speak) with the wonder that is SEM. Did I mention when my u-joint went that the yahoo on the other end of the line wanted me to "lock your differentials and drive it to the OC". Um, have you NEVER seen the underside of a rear-wheel drive vehicle? And I told you - repeatedly - that it is the FRONT u-joint that's busted. SMH.gentleroger, 91B20H8 and harlycharly55 Thank this.
