I saw that video recently, man I really felt bad for the guy....he was really trying. ok......I was laughing my brains out so hard, my kids came into the room to see what I was watching!! lol!!! The guy was reallly going crazy! No matter what, I don't believe circumstances should push a man to a trap in life...make a decision to leave the situation and do better. If you're in a bad situation in life and don't change it, you like it, you just don't wanna admit it.

Do you realize that a video like this could be made for practically any carrier out there today? Every carrier has issues and we all know none of the big carriers give a rat's ### about the warm bodies piloting their trucks down the out of date interstate system in this country. It comes down to a lesser of evils.
But lets remember something. Not every driver has the same priorities. For some it's the amount of miles they can run. For others it's the home time they get to work toward. For others it's the equipment they're assigned to. Pay is a huge factor, obviously for most drivers too.
One thing I've seen through the years are drivers who don't do their homework and look into a company before signing on with them. Then, after they get there and start working for them, they realize the fit isn't a good one for whatever reason. Automatically it's the carrier's fault because they aren't meeting the demands of the driver, which in alot of cases, is brand new to this profession and really has no idea the amount of dedication that is involved in order to succeed as a professional driver.
The bottom line is this. It's been like this since the profession came into existence and will, in all likelihood remain this way until either the end of the world comes, or we go to driverless trucks. It is up to each driver to research the carriers they are interested in driving for and then, after doing thorough research, choosing the right carrier for them. Only by educating ourselves ahead of time can we make a more educated decision on which one of these carriers is more suited to our needs and priorities.
I'm not going to sit here and defend Swift and try to portray them as a great carrier. I decided to go with them because I worked for them before and at this time, they are more suited to my priorities than any of the other carriers I've talked to. Now, after I've been there for awhile maybe things will change. My priorities might change, their company policies might change, etc. But for RIGHT now, this is the best fit for me. We all need to remember that regardless what carrier we go with, we are most likely going to have make sacrifices and tolerate things that we'd rather not.
Ok...enough preaching for one day...cementandrocks Thanks this. -
yall ever thought that he has to stay for so long to pay back training, and ive been around this industry since i was about three and swift sucks. they are not a good company just good enough to get training if that.

I'm not even a driver yet, and I still call BS on the OP. He reminds me of a pathological liar I used to work with.

Well I've been at swift for about 6months. Having said that your success and happiness at this company depends solely on your DM and which Terminal you are operating out of. It's a good place to train and get your license but that's about it. I only avg about 1900 miles per week and it ain't for lack of work ethic or turning down loads a lot of that is hogwash. There simply not going to give you the mileage. Bottom line is swift is another oversize company that tries to run you just enough that you keep working but they maximize profit. o/o at swift get screwed royally. There's drivers out there that like to screw around and treat there dispatcher wrongly but those guys are in every company. Anyway I'm just there to gain as much knowledge as possible pay off my loan and I'm hauling ###. I remember once me and my mentor ran close to 5k miles one week. He was going home for the weekend we got to phoenix on that Friday they tried to sit us till the next Thursday all because he had a $2400 check to his name. If you have a week at swift where you make a decent check the next week is going to be trashi.
It's an experience that's all I can say.scottied67 Thanks this.
