So who would be a good company to start out with as a recent grad of trucking school. I went to Werner and that was a joke, and Swift scared the hell out of me!! I live in Massachusetts so it has to be a company that hires out of this area.
So far all these big OTR companies seem to all pretty much suck from what I read in here. So with that said, where does that leave me. Ive been trying to get a local job but that seems pretty impossible.
The truck doesn't have to be a Tractor Trailer or OTR company, Im willing to drive a straight truck, dump truck or garbage truck. Bottom line is I need a job and quick. If I cant get a job with a decent company then Id rather just go back to working the dock.
At least I wont get killed by some former ex-crack head, ex-felon Swift driver.:biggrin_2559:

FYI-I still can go back out with Swift to finish my 6 weeks, but I am doing everything I can to avoid that.:biggrin_25525:

Woof! I would avoid the above truck. I drive one of these (pic below) down in Texas. Might be looking to go on the road soon though. Thinking about US Xpress.

Doesn't it say "Swift" on the side? it's hard to make out.

Kilroy - the best advice is probably "stay away from the big 6". After that, look for companies that offer to train you - they will often accept recent school grads - particularly if the school is PTDI certified.

Also, if you are not absolutely set on OTR, check out local companies. There are lots and lots of them - some of them WILL hire fresh meat.

The big six are not necessarily the biggest six trucking companies out there - just the ones you hear the most complaints about:

    Swift
    Werner
    Covenant
    CR England

uhhh.. oh, man! Brain fart! froze... up... damage.. damage... drive head on platter.. ow!

For the life of me, I can NOT remember the other two-to-four.

    I feel so ashamed!
