I know it's kind of hokey, but my mother was a lifelong smoker. I watched her shrivel up and die slowly and very painfully as a result of emphysema. It is neither an easy nor kind way to end ones life.

In Midwest purgatory. Arrived in Milwaukee yesterday at noon to set up for a delivery at 22:00 tonight. So far the next load offers involve waiting up to another 30 hours to catch 500 mile loads. This isn't how a team should run. Every time I get my trainee above target hours BTW per day, we get stuck with loads more appropriate for unmotivated solo drivers.

Man, that's the same crap that happened to me the first of my last two times up there a couple weeks ago. Waited 27 hrs to unload because of a nimwitted CSR, then got sent 3 different places for an mty. Finally just went and swiped one from a place they didn't know about.
    Hope y'all get out soon!!

I'll also post this on my thread in the health section, but I just ran across this article:

Sugary Drinks Could Age The Body As Much As Smoking

Starting about two years ago, when I got back into trucking, I made a concerted effort to drastically reduce my intake of refined sugar. That meant eliminating all soda pop to start with, then really carefully buying my food by looking at listed sugar content. Ultimately I gave up on any convenience foods and very rarely eat fast food or any restaurant food. The bulk of my diet is now raw vegetables and fruits, with some bread (although it's hard to find a sugar free bread these days). The sugars in raw produce are chelated with vitamins and minerals bonded to the fibers and much more complex.

Note that in the article they found that high sugar drinks contributed to changes in DNA from shortened telomeres. I'm convinced that our extremely high sugar diets are creating the epidemic of chronic illnesses.

Finished my run from western WY a day early. Hanging at the T/A in Morris IL about 20 minutes from final.

Keyboard monkeys never bothered to set up an unload appt for me. Too busy pounding their keyboards I guess. Called the customer and set one up myself..8am in the morning. They don't do unloads after 12pm so this was as early as I could get in. I should get extra pay for doing their job too.

Hope to to get a 500 miler I can unload by Wednesday afternoon next.

Just got a load offer. Will be sitting for 36 hours to unload in Milwaukee tonight, and I get another load offer picking up tomorrow morning and delivering 16 hours later 150 miles away.

A good time to ignore another offer. Although it's getting to desperation time as the miles on the offers keep getting shorter and shorter and shorter....

... looks right now like my trainee will log a total of one hour On Duty tonight to do a drop and hook, then shut down waiting for a load.

Dang Lepton, that blows. You guys should be running coast to coast or border to border.

I received a note on the QC couple days ago saying how Swift needed teams and the miles were fantastic blah blah blah. I thought of your issues the last few weeks trying to get miles. Their offer smelled like a turd wrapped in cotton candy. Heck, I'm a solo Company ##### and I'm running 2800-3400 week in and week out.

They need to do a LOT BETTER for you, especially as a Mentor!!

Yeah mine too. It seems every time I get near Chicago the last several months Costco is my ticket out so I've gotten pretty familiar with this T/A. Lots of parking and amenities. Swanky restaraunt for a TS too.

Couple of weeks ago I stayed at the new Peelot next door overnight waiting on a trailer repair and someone sliced off my gladhands while I was bobtail. They got some others too. Won't be staying there again.

I'm not sure what's going on, but in peak season for the last two and a half months I haven't had more than 4500 miles booked in a week. I can't count the times I've had a trainee qualified to run team and they stick us on loads a lazy solo could get done while stopping at every fast food joint and shopping mall.

Finally I accepted a three load stack, but it blows. After my trainee logs in at 21:00 to make a 22:00 drop and hook we'll go 30 miles to get in place for a 08:00 live load with 150 miles, delivering the NEXT morning at 01:00...

... Then finally get busy headed to Columbus and then Jacksonville.

Another week with at least 72 of wait time.

I'll need to have a talk with my DM. If they can't run a mentor team, then I'll go back to solo.
