I almost went to work for a guy that had 6 trucks. His shop was a pole barn with a bar, while it was different, drinking beer at my interview I declined the position, glad I did. Found out years later he was divorced, had 5 DUI's and lost all his trucks.

Yes it's legal. There is no law prohibiting vehicle repair while intoxicated. LOLbrowndawg Thanks this.

OPUS 7 Thanks this. -
If anything goes bad as a result of drinking on the job, your boss will be held responsable for civil, mechs held for criminal charges if an accident happens because of this situation, no mech should be drinking while working on a cmv because of the end results, ive fired several over the yrs from drinking while on lunch breaks in my shops and working on trucks, not sure your situation but look for another deal before shtf there and somebody gets hurt.
drvrtech77 and Lonesome Thank this. -
So, you never had a couple beers while working on a car?

Do what you feel is best for YOU, but mechanics that work on commercial vehicles are subject to all federal rules and regulations concerning drugs and alcohol. Some one in the shop even has to have a CDL A to road test tractor and trailers before they sign that the work has been completed in accordance with DOT rules and regulations. Can't believe no one pointed that out to you.BrenYoda883 Thanks this.

So, if they have a few too many and don't fix something right and the driver gets in an accident because of their neglect, that's ok? I'd tell them please don't drink until you're done working on my truck, then drink all you want, it's MY life operating that truck. If they don't like it, you don't need to be there.skyviper73, drvrtech77, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this. -
Good luck proving that!
