Keep a positive attitude, and be ready for a culture shock. The space might feel like it gets smaller and smaller but just try to remember "this is basic training" soon you will be on your own. since I don't know you I'm going to say make sure you keep your personal Hygiene a priority. No B.O. and no bad breathe. If you don't smoke ask for a non-smoker. If you get stuck with a smoker just enjoy the 2nd hand smoke. Good Luck!

I dont smoke, quit 5 years ago. I could get by with a smoker. Personal hygiene isn't an issue and I do brush my teeth lol. Pretty easy to get along with. I'm a minimalist when it comes to traveling gear.

Can someone please explain what typically can be run on an APU? I assume they run off truck batteries? ( insert laugh here lol)

 

nope, the apu on stevens truck is a small diesel engine with a generator, and a compressor for the bunk a/c. look up thermo king tripac.

 

And what can be run on one is pretty much anything that plugs into a 3-prong plug or 12-volt plug, within limits. Small microwaves, your TV, small cookers, a fridge, those kinds of things. Total wattage is important, so for example, you wouldn't want a full-power microwave.

And the APU charges the truck batteries while its operating. Nice, huh?

 

seems about 700 watt max on microwaves.
APU charger doesn't keep up with my electric burner. Have to idle truck to fry hamburger.
But other then that, it has powered anything and everything else that I have tried.

 

OK, here is the list of appliances I have on the truck, of course they are not all used or even plugged in at once, but they all work when I use them...
