Don't get me wrong. I love my Garmin. But at the same time, I need to be aware of what I'm doing. Garmin doesn't know everything (sometimes I am amazed it knows anything) but it goes back to "better safe than sorry". I'm not paying a big ### ticket because I couldn't have made sure first.
Guys I'm freakin out. Please help.

You follow a GPS and you take your chances. Pay the ticket, learn from it, and move on. If you're this upset about it you may be in wrong profession.
99saleen87 Thanks this. -

best of luck to you OP as since it is Kalifornia, you will be paying something. get rid of the gps for a little while.learn to navigate, not unlike a relic such as myself would, without one.under your bunk is a great place for it for the next 6 months to one year.
you can be a relic all you want, we'll let you. but don't you dare say throw away the gps. cuz it's the ONLY tool i use. and it's a very rare occasion that it takes me to a place i don't belong. and the very few times that it has, have all been in commiefornia, usually with my delivery being on that very street that i need.
but, i also have eyes that work. to which apparently, most of you don't.
one of these days, i'm going to sit at the port when it's closed. and video ALL YOU TRUCKERS ROLLING THROUGH.
after rereading my post,I am certain that i did not suggest the op throw the gps away.perhaps you had me confused with another in your haste to up your post count-99saleen87 Thanks this. -
Big, im this upset because I actually proposed my self I was gonna go @ least 10 years without a ticket and booooom here it is. I mean I had 1 baaaack then with my C class, but I was already @ 7 years clean with my A class till now. So for now I HATE COPS, maybe next year I'll like them back.

That is sort of like sitting on the stove and blaming the fire for burning your arse!Balakov100 said: ↑I got a speeding ticket a while back..

So many people are unable to take responsibility for their own actions, they just HAVE to blame somebody else.
"semi" retired, Balakov100 and joseph1135 Thank this. -
I haven't gotten a ticket since 2005, by a serious stroke of luck. I should have gotten one in Stanfield, OR for running a stop sign. Used humor and the officer was cool. Should have gotten one for speeding on 95 in Nevada but the officer was understanding that I really did not see the speed limit change. I was guilty both times but by treating the officers with respect admitting I screwed up, there were no issues. The cop doesn't want to give you a ticket until you make him want to.
Boy Howdey and 99saleen87 Thank this. -
Actually, a lot of it depends on the particular cop, and what department he is with. If his primary assignment is traffic enforcement, he is much more likely to give you a ticket. In other words, you are more likely to get "scratched" by highway patrol, and "yelled at" by a sheriff's deputy. Again, depending on the department and what they are looking for from their officers.
Also, the younger, and newer on the job the cop is, the more likely he is to write you a ticket for whatever he can find to write you for. It takes a couple of years for that badge to lose the 25 pounds it automatically gets when you first put it on. . .
I actually had an incident very similar to the OP's, and in the same general area. I followed QC "directions" and wound up in Berkeley. (shudder) Found a place to park, fired up my laptop and went to a map program to show how to get where I needed to be.
Obviously, I missed the "NO TRUCKS" sign. Got stopped by a Chippie who was totally cool. He did not write me, but told me how to get where I needed to be from where I was. Then escorted me to the nearest off ramp. I was frankly amazed, because if a ticket was ever deserved, that was it. . .
(And no, I didn't get out of it by showing my retired ID. He was just being a decent guy.)99saleen87 Thanks this. -
GPS software was it for a car or Semi Truck...? it sounds like a car...musing
99saleen87 Thanks this.
