:biggrin_25524: just got layed off agine from my woods product job of 6 years I want to get out of the wood product industry all together. I have 5 years of over the road experience running dedicated airfreight and highvalue cargo but that was 15 years ago. Had a Family Tragedy that took me of the road. got a phone call that every parent dreads. had to step off the truck in SLC looking to restart but don't really have the money to put down on CDL school were do I start. I did local YVR SEA PDX GEG solo Team dedicated SEA SFO LAX with a few runs going clear across to JFK MIA ATL ORD I am Old school I know how to read a map plan a trip and can shift 18 15 12 10 9 and do paper logs looking to start over.:biggrin_25525:

    Where do you live; city/state?
We need to know where you live so we know the hiring area. Not all companies hire from everywhere.
Celadon probably hires in your area though; they hire from all states. Check their website. No money needed. They pay for transportation to the school, lodging and 3 meals a day. The company also has refrigerated and flatbed. Pride Transport has about the same deal as Celadon & also has refrigerated and flatbed.

Since you're laid off, the unemployment office may pay for private CDL school. Just depends if you can afford to wait for the paperwork process or not. Probably have to pay for your own meals and transportation to and from school.

Lots of changes since you last drove. Real strict now on blood pressure and blood sugar levels. If you can afford it, get a DOT physical now out of your own pocket to find out if you need to get blood sugar or blood pressure within limits. Many, many truckers are on blood pressure medicine and diabetes medicine such as Metformin, and that's OK as long as the medcine brings everything to within limits.

    I'm jealous!

Friend of mine from my Navy days works at Lowe's in Everett. Easy to spot; he's covered in tattoo's. Just like me, he upheld the highest traditions of the United States Navy; get stewed, screwed & tattooed.
