You cant say no one. I dont flash people coming at me with bright or hi beams. Thats just as rude imo.
Often when a Cascadia is coming at me cresting a hill it looks like his hi beams are on until it levels out and then I can see he just has very bright regular lights.
The Volvos have very bright road lights.. so when combined with headlights its pretty bright in my mirror when I pass. Sometimes if I failed to clean my mirrow or if they fog over it can become blinding to the point where I cant determine how far back he is. I never just blindly come over or trust another drivers judgement with out being 100% sure I have the room and momentum to stay ahead.
I never would have thought this subject would generate this kind of feedback.
I think I understand a bit more why drivers dont help each other as much as we used to years ago. Its every man for himself out here now.
Shame

This topic always gets some interesting opinions.
Personally I don't like when people flash their brights but I don't lose any sleep over it. It's just not that big a deal to me.
What gets me though is when this topic comes up, and it's made clear that a lot of people don't like it and some get very upset about it, there are always some who seem to decide they will do it anyway.
You have to wonder about the mentality of drivers who will doing something knowing full well they are going to upset other drivers. That's not a good goal to have. -
And for those who get flashed often from oncoming traffic even though their brights aren't on you might want to check your headlight aim.

Well, unless I missed it, many times, on newer trucks the lights come on with the key, so the lights can't be shut off, so like patty sez, at least they are doing what they can. Now, what REALLY irked me, is when you shut your lights off for a passing truck, and they don't thank you. 1 flash of the other signal, or the clearance lights or even a quick 4 way. After a while, I stopped shutting my lights off all together.

so if i like being flashed rather then being ignored
my feeling about it doesn't count
i didnt start yesterday either -
I flash by day and dim by night.
Hammer166, DrtyDiesel and Numb Thank this. -
Many of them expect you to come over right away and they flash as soon as you clear their front bumper. I don't need a hemorrhoid.

I drive a Cascadia most nights. They don't have a headlight interrupt switch like the kw's we have do. So I lean up and turn my headlights off for a few seconds and then back on.
When I was with my trainer he would always flash people over. When I drove and he'd see me reach up and turn my headlights off and on he would tell me that I can just flash my brights. I told him I don't do it because I don't like when people flash me. He's got 30+ years driving trucks, but he's got his way, I have mine.
I'll hit the marker lights and thank someone for signaling me over, unless they flash their brights, I don't Thank on that.
Just my opinionNumb Thanks this. -
It never ceases to amaze me, the behavior some you justify. SMFH
