Deisel, as it has been pointed out many times in the past, posting is for everyone, you are entitled to have your own opinion, you don't have to conform or agree, don't stop talking 'cause somebody else has a different viewpoint than you do, a big part of this whole counties problem is they do not listen, there may be a high value in what you are saying. It may not be legal completly legal according to FMCSA handbook but if you been doing it and getting through audits.......

    What the bleep!

Well some officers would agree with you and some would agree with me.

I will do this and ask our officer, however I asked this before in maybe a different wording so I will try it as in I am "relieved" from work and leaving a customer heading home and see what he/she says. Deal? Hey maybe I am wrong, "again" wait I was right the last debate:biggrin_255:
No joking but yeah I will shoot them an e-mail.

You ask also and lets see if we get different answers l.o.l. Hmm I am sure we will l.o.l.

<<SNORK>> yeah, can YOU see DH dropping off the posting list because some of us disagree with him?

Or, come to think of it, for ANY reason other than "he wants to"?:biggrin_25517:

Thanks Lurchgs and logsRus. I was joking and appreciate everyones thoughts. I'm falling off because the way I do things that CAN NOT be supported by the law. I have been doing things my way and it works for me. I understand it's not for everyone and a lot of guys tried it my way and ended up with fines. I'm OK with that. I feel as though a lot of guys are just looking for excuses to get out of work. I may be wrong and I'm OK with that. I just don't feel I can make an impact on this topic because the way I do things OR I will not be impacted by the topic and crossover to the "right way." So with that said, I don't want to argue and I will bow out gracefully. I'm usually up for the argument but, I don't have the resources to prove my point. My wife has taught me to pick and choose my battles. Usually doesn't work but, I can use that saying now!:biggrin_2559:

That is not really a laugh, it's an introspective.

Sorry to get everybody's hair messed up.
I'm just trying to find out if the DOT officer that I talked to that told me I could drive when I am off duty was right or not.
When I've dropped my load and looking for a truckstop sometimes I have to drive 20 or 30 miles. I am not under load so I'm not On Duty so I log in the off duty line. Now do I drop a line and say that I'm at Wal-Mart shopping when I'm half way to the truckstop that I'm going to stop and spend the night at or do I just stop and do my thing and then keep going to the truckstop and log that as a stop and post trip? The question is how do I account for the time? If the truckstop is 5 miles away which would normally take 30 min to get to how do I (or do I have to) account for the 2 hours I was in Wal-Mart shopping and talking to someone or haveing an icecream cone or what ever?
Why did it take me 2-1/2 hours to go 5 miles?
    Does anybody care?:biggrin_25513:
Please -- Someone say yes... :biggrin_25517:

Ah - ok. I'd have the time in the store - since you are not working - as 'off duty', but when you climb back behind the wheel, you are driving again.

But I've been wrong before. Logs?
    No!:biggrin_2559:

lyion here.wrong completely wrong can not drive around in any commercial truck any time and not log it being on duty driving .except if you don't have a syn on your truck with a company logo on it .then you haft to put a sine on both sides of the truck say ,not for hire.also i wouldn't brag to much about driving down the road and picking up some beer and having it in your truck.thats a big ,big ,no no with dot . if a dot pulled you over with beer in the truck ,more and likely your going to jail and the truck will be put into impound..you need to understand ,when you get a cdl you have acquired a federal license even tho its issued by your resident home state it is a federal license and along with it there are rules that are different than driving your personal car .if you are even in your car and get pulled over or go threw a check point for drunken drivers if you get caught the limit is 02 because you have a federal license in most states you get caught in your car drinking it 04 but not for cdl holders.dont get caught in a 18 wheeler your really in for it. you'll lose your license for 5 years i beleave.more than likely and there are any company that will ever hire you if you were caught drinking or DWI or under the influence in a truck. i cant believe a dot would tell you its OK to drive a truck and not log it that's crazy man you must have made that up .i personally no a guy who was driving his on truck to his home and did not log it .it coast him over $500 in fines for not logging .it doesn't mater if your off duty on the way home or to a truck stop if they wont to get you it wont be a good day for you and if your a company driver there might be further consequences from them to . i t sounds like you may need to get some help , on the other trucking site witch I'm not aloud to give out here there's a page for help ,old blue ,answers question a long with federal state police and dot agents that can tell you the real truth .I'm very serious about what i said man don't get caught doing what you've said ,for your sake and becarfull what some of these guys say don't take there word check it out with those who really no .
