Headlights aren't there just for you to see, but they're also there for you to be seen. Personally, my headlights are on every vehicle I drive, every time I drive regardless of the time of day or weather.

I appreciate flashes bright or dim. Myself, I dim at night and bright during daylight. To me, it seems ridiculous not to flash... With controls on the steering wheel/turn signal or a whole 6" to the dash, just screams I'm a special kind of lazy person that only cares for myself. Or maybe its just being angry they can't do the speed limit and get their kicks from watching cars pass on right as entertainment.
The purpose of flashing as I've understood it, is not to say you've cleared, but rather your at a comfortable (safe) distance. Or you need to bring it over earlier for an aggressive motorist. I don't know which of you have the auto brake systems, nor how much distance they require... the last thing I want to do is set that off on those that run them. I think that would especially behove those drivers to flash, before the anxious 4 wheelers behind set it off for you.
BTW you fast trucks that don't thank an obvious flash, seem ruder than the non flashers. Be sure your trailers are wired to use the clearance interupt. I spot some that I see top front of trailer blinks and nothing in the rear, I use 4 ways instead.
Final note: If you think the passing truck lights are too bright, don't flash your brights during the pass! Its bound to piss you off worse when he nearly takes off your hood. -
Volvo is the same way.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

It's gotten harder to dip your headlights now that all trucks have rotary headlight switches inconveniently located. Bring back toggle switches in the middle of the dash where they belong. I hate having to reach around the steering wheel and fumble in the dark for the switch. I REALLY hate the way Volvo has the fog lights on the headlight switch, but then I hate everything else about Volvo trucks too.
I also don't like drivers using flashers on a hill when they're doing 40 MPH+. I'm intelligent enough to understand that trucks are slow on hills & some are slower than others. Please save the flashers for the ones that are stopped, or nearly so.PackRatTDI Thanks this. -
I don't flash anyone to come over. I moon them. Whether the see it or not is not my problem!
-
You might know that trucks slow down, but most 4 wheelers seem to still be surprised it happens even if they live in the area. Heck I also throw on the 4 ways if it's heavy rain or I see stopped traffic ahead while I'm slowing down.

Too bad the law in some states is to use your flashers anytime you are more then 15mph below the speed limit.rank Thanks this.

When I see 4ways in heavy rain I think this person is probably going slower than other traffic. So I start looking to move over and pass only to find out they are just cruising along like everyone else.... Not cool.

I do hate those people that don't give a thank you , specially when they clearly respond to your flash
