You better read the "FINE PRINT". 34 cents a mile X's maybe 3000 miles in 4 weeks, thats not 57K. $5000 sign on if you can make it 1 year. Good Luck.

You dont sound like a day at the picnic yourself.....
would that not that be dependent upon the actual picnic itself? consider,if you will,a picnic in the textbook definition and then an actual picnic.then consider the original post and the posts that a.t. replies to and the manner in which a.t. replies.then kindly consider what a troll does on forums and draw a parallel.
I could not do it(and i lie) but perhaps you can.west virginia comes to mind but then i love snowshoe mountain and the skiing i do there almost yearly. i don't allow that thought process to cloud my love of that one area in appalachia.richter and gpsman come to mind but i digress- -
The recruiters themselves are saying that you will get about 2000 miles a week.
As a new driver, you will be paid, I think, a whopping .36 cents per mile.
Sooo... .36X2000= $720.00 per week.
There are 52 weeks in the year. 52X720= $37,440 (and you wont work 52 weeks, either).
Wow! $37,000 a year.
And those "bonuses" that they dangle in front of you don't add up to a significant amount either. Provided that you even earn them.
Ok, now tack on that $8000.00 hiring bonus; you do realize that you MUST stay an entire year to receive it.
All the while, earning $720.00 a week BEFORE taxes and medical insurance deductions which are, I think $50.00 a week for just yourself and $85.00 per week for you and a spouse. Plus taxes, of course; gotta keep that military strong. You may be broke, but at least you're protected from all o' them terrorists everywhere.
You'll be lucky to take home $500.00 a week after deductions.
All this to live like an animal in a freezing (or boiling) steel box. No APU's (that's a built in AC/Heater).
By all means, confirm all this with a recruiter.
If anyone were to accept this, I guess Schnieder gets what they pay for.bigjoel and wyldhorses Thank this. -
if todays display from the pumpkin is any indication of the rest of their fleet..choose to set up camp else where.
but for your actual question the units and trailers will be spec for "feather light" in order to take on more freight. the company im with now did it to some flat deck trucks in order to haul the amount they needed in and out of the states on a spread axle and still be good in canada (spread axle not allowed in most places)
an easy example is the difference between our dry vans and heaters: 44,000k on a heater 46,800k on van
the heater weight is more not just because of the heater unit its self but the brand of trailer is heavier then most (manac)
this can also commanly be the case with refer trailers as well as refer freight can be heavy and a pain in the ### to load in addition to the trailer weight.
often super singles, aluminum rims and light weight construction are popular ways to leighten the total weight of equipment.
my advice to you is if your so called requiter couldnt take 3 seconds to explain that to you, i wouldnt be going any farther with them.
REMEBER THIS IS JUST AS MUCH OF AN INTERVIEW FOR THEM AS IT IS U INTERVIEWING THEM
just because your new to the game doesnt mean you need to get dumped on and then in 4 months be the next "swift now what" topic -
Probably make pretty good if it's the multi-stop grocery store runs and beverage backhauls. Probably make more on accessorial pays than cpm.

I got an email today from H.O.Wolding regarding my app and following up with my DOT card exp. date.
My instructor at school says they have a pretty nice gig hauling paper down south from Maine and bringing Poland Spring back north which doesn't sound bad at all considering the fact that I live in Providence, RI as of right now and I would be traveling right through home at least 3 times a week.
Also applied for FedEx Freight a couple of days ago. Still waiting for an answer from them.
Applied for TMC friday and havent heard from them yet.
Am only 3.5 weeks away from graduation and going for my road test and am starting to feel the pressure and getting that "what should I do next?" kinda feeling. -
Also saw another post from the pumpkin offering 6K and change to move near Chester, NY and some decent yearly. But not sure if I would like to move back to NY again, yet.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Try not to over think this. It's your first job, so no big deal; you can move on in a few months if you feel the first job isn't what you really want in truck driving. HO Wolding looks OK from what you posted.
