Well my day went swell, shipper loaded me out in Tacoma.
Headed south on I-5 towards the communist country of "cali-fine-u". While rolling up a hill " swift decides he doesn't want to put his flashers on crawling at 7mph behind an RV.
So stage is set. So I get this load of quarters that weigh 740lbs each. 60 of them. (Train wheels) if your wondering.
Well. Back to my up hill adventure. So math time kids. Truck traveling 40mph approaches in dark swift doing 7mph. And I get a hammer lane full of impatient 4wheelers who decide. "Don't let the big truck out"
I hit my brakes. Not hard mind u. Just enough for 4 stacks of then to shift. Now I'm doing 7mph with swift. Finally get a spot to get in hammer lane and pass.
I am not going to .mess with them in the rain tonight. I'll be doing it fresh and early.tommrow.
Now I see why animals eat there young.
Parked Here for the Night

If you ever need a place to park a truck, Im south of Brookshire in Simonton and have an acre and a half. -
Very kind of you. We have a yard in Houston where I leave the truck when I go home. But on the flip side....I hate HoustonTruckDuo Thanks this.
-
Yeah... and I have passed by that place soooooo many times.... but my freaking memory wasn't working and I didn't have time to consult Google satellite...
When I passed that and New Stanton early morning, I saw how BIG they are... Oh well.... put a note on my list for next time...
FatDaddy Thanks this. -
Did a drop and hook at co. warehouse in north IN and rushed to Plymouth for a pick up... It was rush rush rush... No time for nothing....
Had to watch loader loading trailer and didn't have time to plan my stop for 10 hr break... So... after loaded, with less than 2 hrs from my 14 and still considering which route to take, scale load and all... I decided to shut down at shipper... So... here I am... Everybody is gone home...
Was going to leave at 1:30 am but the darn snow mix started to fall...
The truck is bouncing like a boat with the strong wind...
Weather radio says there's a wind advisory tonight + mix of snow and freezing rain and temp will be in the 30's...
So, as much as I would like to start driving at night, I am not sure I will "adventure" in these US roads in the wee hrs in this hazardous weather...
Deliver on Monday in Dallas, TX.... Here I go to Dallas again...
Hey, is that TA in Rockwall too congested on a Sunday morning? -
TA in Rockwall should have plenty of parking on a Sunday morning
Rocks Thanks this. -
Parked at the house and I'm fix'n to get into the Michelob's..
-
FYI--Rocks--There is always good spots to park on PA Pike--and knowing how you like to be alone peacefully--there are numerous SAFE pull offs between Bedford and Somerset---you have to run across alot to know all of em---BUT--there is a big DOT Shop/salt shed--about the 135 or so--just before you climb to the hole in the wall leading to somerset-where you can get WAY off the road safely and sleep like a baby

At the house--wanting to do a ton of stuff--but this ugly windy cold day is kinda hampering those plans--lol -
^^the weather ain't any better a couple hours north of ya either^^
I'm 1st on the Tejas list for Monday if you are gonna be heading that way..'olhand Thanks this. -
Well... well... well.... to my HAPPY surprise and BENEFIT, the weather website was wrong about the severe weather...
I woke up at 2 am and there was no snow, no rain, strong wind had ceased, and the ground was dry...
After some evaluation, I decided to leave at 3 am central time and took some country roads to cut short...
The weather was cold but dry allllllll the way to AR...
Actually, there was NO cloud... pretty clear skies...
And now, I am here.... at a small Conoco in AR...
A bunch of trailers left here and one truck to my right now...
Will leave at 1 am central time.... will stop at a WM for groceries and then, will park at a big congested stinky truck stop in south Dallas.... Decided not to park at TA in Rockwall.... or even Love's no... no... no.... Don't want to face Monday morning traffic in Dallas on my way to receiver...
