I unloaded at one once and pulled up in back and went to bed. About 6 AM someone banged on my door but I wouldn't answer and they went away. Don't like Wally World, don't do business with them and don't park a truck in their lot. It has been studied and discovered that where companies don't put out trash cans there is less of a litter problem.

This is it right here, shop and leave so others can get stuff, it's what I do as a respect to everyone else who would like to grab some things in the store. If delivering at Walmart then thats another story.

My husband is a Walmart truck driver. Due to city ordinances, or neighborhood restrictions, many Walmart stores are no layover stores anymore. This means that a Walmart truck cannot even layover there. On top of that, there are many stores that are not only no layover stores, but also have curfew hours that you cannot deliver past or before. Then there are some where a truck cannot even run his APU while unloading.

He has a list of stores in our state, that show which stores are what, and where he can layover. The bad thing is, when he has to go to CA or NV, unless it is in the notes he does not know which stores he can stay at. In CA, a vast majority of the stores are no layover.

Always call to find out if the store you are trying to stay at is a layover store. Don't blame Walmart if a rent-a-cop comes around and tells you that you have to leave. The vast majority of the time this has nothing to do with Walmart themselves. Also, please be courteous when laying over at a Walmart store. Please do not leave trash, do not park in customer parking, and do not park in the way of other trucks that need to maneuver to make deliveries. Also, as another poster mentioned, Walmart is not a truck stop. A single layover is fine. Leaving your truck there for days is incredibly rude and disrespectful. Its pretty bad when a Walmart truck can't even layover at a store due to the lack of space. Its even worse when my husband steps out of his truck and almost steps into a nice puddle of pee on the asphalt.

Allow one truck to park and all of a sudden its a truck stop. I dont blame walmart or any business to refuse parking or access to truckers because of the crap drivers do on the lots. The loveland, co walmart just installed shopping cart racks where rigs used to park. If we dont trash or piss all over the place then were running over things. The sidney, ne Walmart, look in after hours and you will see how crowded it is with trucks. We get in where we fit in I guess. Its good that walmart stops truck parking. I dont shop at walmart anyway so no reason to ever stop there but I can imagine what the late shoppers have to say about that.

My husband has his prescriptions at Walmart and likes to grocery shop at the Walmart when he can get into them. We supply his truck when he gets home, but that does not last forever. Even if he just parks for a little while we call usually to make sure. He prefers to hit them up late at night, but the pharmacy is not open that late.

Alright I've read enough, Hurst people like you try and always thumb down Cali us Cali guy's. You should look at your own actions before you even speak. Why do you think the don't want truckers there, the only thing you faild to do was leave a piss bottle and toss out your trash.
Cal is not a small world state, things happens in masses. So what you've done is minute to what's really happens and it only takes one to screw it up for everyone.

That's the problem with a lot of people, they don't see the big picture. Don't blame it on Cali or the Wal Mart, take a look at your self and these slobby ### parking lots filled with piss bottles and trash.

While this thread was initially about walmart parking, the actual issue is the increasing lack of professionalism in our industry. More and more places that allow us to park, are changing their minds because of the mess and damage some drivers leave. Drivers complain about high truck stop prices, but don't stop and think that part of the reason they are high is because of the high overhead involved, which includes paying someone to pickup after lazy, unprofessional drivers.

Here's what I do when I need to stop at a walmart. I check Google maps with satellite imagery. You can usually tell if there is designated truck parking. Pro tip: If the parking lot is landscaped with trees throughout, that means no truck parking. Those aren't there for beautification, they are there to make it hard for trucks to park there. I rarely spend more time there than necessary. I shop, put stuff away, move on. I never, ever, leave trash unless in a trash receptacle. Always take my cart to a corral. It amazes me how many people, not just truck drivers, will push their cart off into a vacant parking spot, or up on a curb, because they are too lazy to walk 100 ft or 100 yds, to put it away safely.

Sadly, rants on these forums do little to no good since most unprofessional drivers care little about anyone but themselves, so won't be reading any of this.

My preference for overnight parking is as follows:

    1. truckstop
    2. rest area
    3. Walmart...if allowed

When I have to park at a Walmart, I always call the store and ask to speak to the manager on duty and ask if it's ok to park there for the night. By doing this, I've never had a problem, and have even been permitted to park at no parking stores.
