what are your feelings on running a 45ft 96 in. flatbed? I have run 48ft 102in. and no prob loading. anyone have a problem getting a load due to a 45ft trailer?
can get good deal on a 45 that's why I ask
I am going to go independent in the spring have pre cast to haul spring summer and fall with there trailers just want my own trailer for the times they have nothing for me .or might be better with a van during those times? I know the precast pays well when I can have it.

45ft. are hard to get anything loaded on but prestress or steel, if you get one cheap with alum. wheels + good tires you can change them over to your 48ft. you get cheap because of steel wheels an bad tires.

For me it would be the width rather than the length. I can overhang the length but if you are picking up those steel reels of electrical cable, you need 102 wide. Did a gravy job this summer, 30 miles. All because the truck that showed up the day before was 96 wide and they could not load 2 reels side by side. It was too wide. Made 3 trips at $500 a trip. They needed it now so they paid now.

I don't own the 48' may get van but don't think I would be happy with van rates or sitting and waiting to unload. But here in south central pa no shortage of freight.

I've been pulling a 45' for 8 years. Had to pass on maybe 5 loads in that time.

I'd say all our loads would fit a 45 ft. trailer. Except for one shipper requires 53 footer. And their loads would usually fit a 45 and certainly a 48 if they loaded right.
