I know of one who could not get 8500 miles for the month... lasted as a company driver for 1.5 years, and then was fired, for his attitude and lack of performance...He needed his hand held for everything!!!!

As far as qualifying goes, it is pretty much the old mirror test... Fog it and your in. The guy Clegg is talking about who didnt have the miles went home for a funeral in the middle of his pre alliance period and he misunderstood that he had to start over on the mile count because he went home.
Reality is most of the long time Stevens Drivers are company drivers. There are reasons. I acrually have foind it very easy to say no to renting a truck from the same people who are giving me my freight. -
KMAC is right. It's really hard NOT to qualify. Alliance was originally set up for the 'best of the best' drivers, but like so many things in life, it's morphed into another animal.
If a person wants to learn how to build a business and take things to a higher level, Alliance can be a great asset.
If you're attracted to the 'more money' aspect, but aren't willing to work much harder, save yourself the grief.
Alliance can be the vehicle that takes you much further, but you have to WANT it.
And if you don't have experience managing a business, learn this one BEFORE you give it a shot.
As a matter of fact, I'd advise anyone spend at least a few months learning the trucking business before Alliance.
And remember...Alliance isn't for everyone.TRKRSHONEY, flue and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
8,500 miles in 30 days is less than a 300 mile average, or 6 hours of work a day, not difficult to do, but as I said I know people who could not do it.

I am not a lease person. Being a new driver soon that would be too much on my plate.
Gotta get driving down to a science first lol.KMac Thanks this. -

I was a company driver for about 18 months, not counting training... Whenever I got the monthly report on the QC my miles on average would be like 8000... Always going to Tyson -_- and that was going out for the typical 4-5 weeks. Of course going home for 5 days at the end of the month probably had something to do with it
I ran into a company driver a while back at Walmart and asked him how it was going etc, said he'd been there for 3 years and finally got put on the kraft account and that it pays about 4 cents more. Is that true? -
