The 2 million or so class 8 trucks on the road in the US is small fry in terms of global warming contribution compared the 100 million+ gasoline powered cars on the road and all the pollution Chinese factories spew into the air every day.

Yeah, but since we are the whipping boys for every special interest group and/or government agency that comes along, we are much easier to point out and pick on.

If there is an accident a trucker did it if its global warming its the truckers (and al gore) when will people learn to repsect the big guys on the road? Besides I do like the idea of a carbon fiber trailer just not the cost

I could easily see that trailer technology on the roads, with or without Walmart's name on it in the next couple of years, but it would be a Mega that would run it. The tractor if FUGLY as hell, but given those weight savings and the turbine, probably 20 mpg.

I'd buy one of those ugly mothas in a hot second if they were reliable and got 20mpg! Figure if that was the actual number or even a solid 12mpg I could just about cut my fuel bill in half. That's a lot of $ over the course of a year. I'm kinda funny looking anyway so I'm used to funny stares in public!

Now that is a truck I could live with. But I don't care for the idea of it driving itself. But at least it is a respectable looking truck!

About my luck the hwy pilot in that truck would be like my first tom tom which told me to turn into a dead end when i was supposed to turn other direction, needless to say after that it ended up in trash can. I stick with map form now on.

Thing is most people don't realize is if the fuel bill gets cut in half then the rates will too. Before you say but when old school trucks like me go out of business then you have the market cornered. Wrong you can only run so many hours a week. The short of it is born poor live poor die poor. Course there are exceptions to that rule but very few
