I'm looking at buying an '86 359. It's got a fresh reman engine in it now. Guy said there's about 20k on it now. The only slight down fall on the motor is the low flow cooling system on it. Not a huge deal to me, I'd convert it anyways. My questions are this: It's got a single stack and breather on P/S. How hard would it be to do dual breathere and stacks? And is an all aluminum frame something to really worry about?
Thanks

Does it already have the round hole for the air pipe in the side that does not not have a air/filter?
-
Negative. It's just got the small canister.
-
Thought all 86's would have duel air cleaners. Just need a Y-Pipe for duel exhaust. I have a 84-359 and look at lots of pics of these trucks.

Mines are set up like it too dual everything except breathers I'll leave it like it came from factory

Leave the one breather alone, there is no point in two if there is no provision built in for the second.
A Y or T fitting with somewhat larger pipe to breathe that engine. If I recall, the company pipes were like a two inch or three. A choker. -
The stock alternator is 75 amp? On a 86. The new one I got is 175amp. Peterbilt said that replace it. And should I just run a 1 gauge cable straight to the batteries to charge them. And put a 75 amp fuse in line to the cab feed?

Pete is correct. That would work for proper charging.
Jmlviper213 Thanks this.
