Been through a medical recert recently? Its something a doctor can have you do before signing off on your card even though its not "required."

    To the OP.

Simple solution - TURN OFF THE TRUCK AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. IF HE HAS A PROBLEM, LET HIM CALL THE OWNER AND TALK TO HIM.

it doesn't matter if it is a fantasy filmed by Disney, the doctor who is signing those forms for a person to drive has a minimal requirement to see from those printouts and it is his decision.

Oh yes it is, and if is isn't then pay for my lawyer's fees so I can sue my former carrier, the two clinics and the docs who put me through hell.

If they told you it's a dot requirement, they lied, it's not. The dot has not issued any regulations for sleep studies/sleep apnea treatments, only suggestions which aren't legally binding but employers can certainly implement them as they see fit.

It's not a requirement. However, if you go get a DOT physical, there is a questionnaire section that the doctor will use to screen you for sleep apnea, a high BMI will trigger it, along with the snoring questions. It's part of the form now. If the doctor feels you are subject to sleep apnea, you'll end up with a sleep study... it's up to their discretion.

Fortunately if you're on your own for physicals like I am it's easy to find a doctor who isn't in bed with a sleep center and "ain't got time for that". :)

I got my new card at Concentra back in August. It's on the form, and the doctors are under regulation to do the exams properly. You can kid yourself about this, but your neighborhood quack probably couldn't get on the medical registry and how the doctors are doing things are being monitored. My BMI triggered the questioning, but because I don't have a problem with snoring or falling asleep... no test was required.

OTOH, sleep apnea is real, and if you have it you're well advised to get treatment.

But wait, CPAP machines make people awake feeling oh so refreshed -- why on earth wouldn't someone want to use this miraculous panacea???

My clinic is on the registry.

I've been under treatment for years.

My doc is on the registry too. Concentra's rules are not dot regs.
