Anything that reduces drag and creates a better air flow will increase efficiency. I'd say yes to this question.

Not from my experience. On my 2000 kw w900L brick, 550 cat, 18 spd, had 86" studio sleeper, 275" whlbase. I figured it was worth a shot, so put the full sized wing on it back around 2006. I always track my mpg closely. Barely made any dent in mpg, I was always easy on the gas pedal too. Truck always averaged about 5.3 mpg, including idle time which wasn't that much. Problem is there is still too much open area around the truck and wing, so still lots of turbulence. Best bet is a full size windscreen that comes from the factory, for a brick like a pete or kw.
Anyways, I have since got rid of it and also my last volvo 780, can't recommend that much either. Too many repairs will kill you. I'm in a new cascadia now, averaging 8.4-8.6 mpg running 59-62 mph when not in a rush, which includes idle time. Of course big payment now is a killer too. Tough business anymore. Good Luck. -
That's what I thought ribeye, thanks for the honesty!

Harrison Truck Center (Freightliner dealership) is now offering new Cascadia's as glider kits! Now that would be interesting to see.
-
What is a glider kit?

Since the Cascadia has always been equipped with post epa 2007 engines, the glider will be set up for them, even if you order it without the engine. In other words it would be prohibitively expensive to put a non emission engine in one. None of the electronic nor physical interfaces would be the same between the DD15 and the series 60.

Ah,,the Glider comes without the Eng, Trans, main wire harness and, depending on what Make the truck is, a various other parts. Once the shop gets the glider, they order the wire harness for it, based on what motor they are going to put in it.

I have the full size wing. I ran it on a flat top international 9400. It helped if I was pulling a van, but pulling a flat with it on hurt me half a gallon per mile compared to pulling the flat with it off. I run a dedicated low load (4 foot tall) with the flat.
