What do truckers want/need in a motel. I am a motel developer and want to build a few truckers specific motels. Could you help with advising me on your needs, no idea is out of bounds. What parking needs, room needs, internet/computer, checkin/out, food and anything else you need for lodging. Any wants and ideas may be used in building these prototypes. Thank you for the help. Jim

Pull through parking. Motel/ hotel parking can be tough sometimes, because people want to park their new cars away from others so they get pretty spread out for backing into spots at times.

Houdini hit the nail on the head. PLENTY OF ROOM FOR PARKING and access to the parking.
Other wise the motels do a pretty good job of supplying our needs. Most have restaurants within walking distance, a good thing when your rig is 75' or longer.
I realize with the cost of buying the land it isn't always cost effective to have truck parking. That takes a lot of real estate that could dollar wise make more sense for some thing else.
If enough land for parking is a concern placing a motel near a truck stop is always another possibility. -
Parking, Parking, Parking...... and truck driver rates.

Good rates and a whirlpool tub or swimming pool in the room nice BIG beds
-
Good parking is always a BIG plus.
A good working HOT shower and a good bed also go along way. -
Plug-ins for the block heaters, and porn on closed circuit TV.
-
Find a way to price it cheap cheap cheap
Free laundry would be a good start, along with being cheap
Good luck -
a man so young should not be talking that stuff -
Ample parking, wireless internet.Clean comfortable beds with plenty of pillows that are thicker than a tortilla, clean bedspreads, blankets and bed linens(a lot of motels/hotels do not wash blankets/spreads/mattress pads after each guest) Have you ever noticed that you see sheets on the housekeeper carts , but you never see blankets/spreads/mattress pads? This even includes the pricier places. Fresh smelling rooms. Laundry facilities, hot tub, or Jucuzzi rooms.A generous supply of towels.Big TVs with every cable channel imaginable.Thick drapes that completely cover the windows and blocks out light. Roomy shower with good water pressure and lots of hot water.A supply of menus for the places that will deliver to the motel. In room microwave, fridge, coffee pot with a generous supply of coffee, creamer, sugar.Shuttle service to the truck repair shop/walmart. Pet friendly rooms (no carpet).Smoking/non-smoking rooms. NOTE: I've had to to stay in rooms that had filthy carpet(socks got dirty walking around the room). Had old, worn out beds and pillows.Drapes that did not completely cover the windows(people walking by could see in room). Flimsy towels that resembled a pillow case.Rooms that reeked(I'm not talking about cig. smoke).Dirty bedding.
